  1. Destroyed 3 nests last year in my Mums garden. All within 15 meters. 1 in the flower bed against the house was disposed of with a can of nest/wasp killing foam. Did the job well but no cheap. Hence the last 2 were precision petrol bombed - much cheaper, much more satisfying. Equally as effective as the foam. This year she only has 1 but it's under the eaves of her thatched roof, might have to give the diesel rag a go this time.
  2. It's already been bodged by the previous owner. I'm refurbing it because apart from the handle it's in great nick.
  3. Thanks for the offer but I'm replacing it because the chain deflector in cracked.
  4. Yeah I saw that. What's your experience with non OEM stuff? The price is fine but I'd prefer used OEM, or am I being picky?
  5. Many thanks Megatron. With that said, I'll stick with my hunt for an MS240/260 tank/rear handle. Anyone want sell me one?
  6. In need of a rear handle for above. Can anyone help? Does anyone know if a handle from an 024/026 would fit? Thanks in advance for any advice guys.
  7. not to everyone tommer!!!
  8. SOME people ARE getting at me. I don't care, but I will stand my ground, but I don't think that makes me akward. I didn't start this thread to learn anything about the business, or be patronised. But, SOME people have taken it upon themselves to do just that. It wasn't meant to be a discussion, Stihl vs Husky etc, it was simple offer of a little work for cash. Seriously, what is wrong with some of you? Why do some people have to flex their 'experience muscles' on forums? Who are you trying to impress? This is great forum with loads of great info and interesting discussions. But some of BS that people rant at others is almost beyond belief. Will someone just mention the Nazis so this thread can end? Oh, there we go!
  9. I'm trying, but him and tommer9 are ganging up on me now:bash: Some people don't know when to quit!
  10. No, It's a commercial vehicle so they'll charge me, and I dare not ask for any MORE favours...
  11. Nope. It's not a favour, it's work. 'Not fussed when/if your in the area' work, but work none the less. Give up Rupe.
  12. So is that a yes? Your last posts sounds like you've changed your mind?!
  13. Thanks for your opinion. I didn't tell anyone how much to charge me. I made an offer, and a flexible one at that. Thanks anyway.
  14. I think if you read back over the whole of this thread you will see it is swaying dramatically in my favour. Theocus has just offered to do it, and Tewkesbury is hardly the garden next door Come on Rupe, admit your wrong, people will respect you for it!
  15. I think your absolutely right. But having never used a commercial chipper I thought it would be prudent to over estimate the time scale so as not to cause any ill feelings on the day. If someone had have asked the question I think this may have turned out to be a much less entertaining thread
  16. No Rupe. I'm not asking for a favour. I am offering work. A favour is something you do for a mate for free or at cost. I don't ask people I've never met for favours. I'm offering an opportunity to someone, to make some quick cash. Which it would be if it was at the end of the day and they were in the area.
  17. I don't want to buy your chipper, or your truck for that matter. £50 is beer money, or diesel money. It's £50, for doing VERY little, if your passing/in the area/on the way to the pub. It's extra money, if you don't want it/can't do it, what's your point?
  18. ALMOST, but you didn't. My google comment was in response to a ridiculous claim that it was going to take 6 hours, which it wouldn't, obviously. Have some grace?! I made a simple offer, some people said it was fair, some said they'd do it if they were local enough, some thought it wasn't enough. SOME decided to be condecending, patronising and flat out tell me I'm wrong. I wasn't asking for advise, and I wasn't asking for a favour. I was offering work. As I'm getting sick of saying, if your not interested...
  19. Like I said, if your not interested...
  20. JESUS CHRIST. (sorry mod) I was advised by a tree surgeon of more than 10 years to put a post on here, after I asked him where the best place to hire a chipper was. Said surgeon has done exactly the same thing before when working away, by calling round a few local companies, and guess what? It got done. I've put an offer on the table, your not interested? Go read something else. I don't need to be patronised, insulted and practically made fun of because I thought I might actually be doing someone a favour! Not everyone on here agrees with you Rupe, so don't bark at me like I'm simple. I'm a Sky TV engineer at present, and know plenty about time & motion, doing up to 7-8 jobs a day, and still managing to fit unscheduled call-in's for other engineers/customers into my day. IF anyone is interested. IF Bishampton may be on your way to somewhere, at SOME point over the next few weeks, let me know. The pile of brash would probably just spill over an empty high sided transit tipper - UNCHIPPED. If you don't have enough room for all the chippings, no worries, my Dad will deal with the rest himself. I was going to hire a chipper and leave them all for him, so anything that can be removed will be a bonus but not essential.
  21. NO tommer9 I don't. I said if your in the area, i.e. between jobs, if its not to far out of the way for you.
  22. My thoughts exactly. But apparently we're both clinically insane...
  23. Thanks for your input Acle. Did you actually read anymore than the first post in this thread?
  24. Great, valuable advice. Many thanks again spud. I feel like I owe you at least a beer, where are you based?
  25. 6 hours?! Google 'time and motion' it will save you a fortune! Come on guys, I thought times were hard? £50 and a 6 pack??
