  6. i agree but if mortgage is aprox£500, what about food/gas/elec ect ect?
  7. might cover some peoples mortgages but i dont know anyone who could survive on it, i think most people with a mortgage would need a min of £1000 cover, so the £19 isnt realistic for most:001_smile:
  8. would you risk your home for £6400? as for reasonableness of tax office please read Ian Leaches reply #42:001_smile:
  9. i am but i think they are are reasonable assumptions:001_smile:
  10. true but i find it difficult to believe anyone with a £320k asset would flat out refuse to pay a £6400 genuine tax bill knowing the potential Consequences:001_smile:

  12. true but i think the threat of losing your home due to relatively small unpaid tax bill is a bit extream, bit like giving someone life for shoplifting imho

  17. This is true but my friends problems started when he broke his leg at work then the following week his wife lost her job he was off work for three months so he dipped into the money he had saved for tax as he had no other money to live on when he was ready to return to work others had been hired to do the work all this was explained to the inland revenue who weren't interested they just threatened him, so you see its not always in your own hands.
  18. Bloody scary, i mean anyone can have problems and fall on hard times, im not defending anyone who deliberatly evades tax, its just the Draconian measures they will take to recover it and their trying to make these measures easier to enforce
  19. your quite right Andy, i know a lad that had to sell his car and caravan to pay his tax bill due to threats from HMRC and it wasn't a large amount as you say dont take the risk.
  20. Or become a LTD company:001_smile:
  21. i agree about the big evaders being taken in hand ie Starbucks ect problem is their big employers as well seem to get away with murder:biggrin:
  22. yep read it all, they didn't state it wouldn't lead to repo, only that it was not likely
  23. could be a bit worrying for the self employed though if they fell on hard times.
