  1. Ronnie is a steroid filled wuss haha God bless bodybuilders they do try.

Hi Stephen I shall post a sample routine for you all to try.Everything I do is about acheiving maximum force, power, speed and what I like to call practical strength endurance, stuff you can really carry over to real everyday scenarios.

If you hit a YouTube search on westside barbell you can Veiw the average workouts I follow as I follow my quest to be the first drug free lifter to total elite in powerlifting.

I don't have any form of video recording device. If I did I would have done a weekly video blog dedicated for tree and forestry workers detailing ways to make everyday graft less difficult and ways to prevent back and knee injuries etc. If I ever master technology I shall do this for arbtalk if mr bullman allowed as I'm just an average joe with average genetics who has worked his gonads off and I'm sure everyone can relate to that.I'm no steroid filled genetcally gifted zeuss :)

  2. You do a lot of pressing Yeti? I got a shoulder injury last year after pressing a lot. worked up to 110k front press at 15.3stone. Not a really heavy weight compared to real strongmen but i was happy with it.

Will need to try these pushups plyometric way - Bet the are really tough do to the maximum contraction.

Aye I wish my military press was better tho.I can strict military press 152.5 for three and push press 192 for one rep max.

Benching took a long long time to come up with having such long arms being 6ft5.But I can bench 225 for 31 reps and max bench unshirted is 540.with a shirt I can hit 600 bang on button.Shoulders are paying the price tho, like many young gym goers I stupidly neglected rotator cuff work. Those plyo pushups are amazing core shoulder back chest and arm blasters, your whole body is like a coiled spring bouncing you back up lol.

Ever since starting using westside barbells templates my explosive strength has gotten out of hand.Holding 25kg dumbells I can from standing start jump onto a 40" platform. And before using there methods the plyo pushup was nearly impossible.I can also go from kneeling to standing with 90kg barbell on my back

  3. I'm doing Larch, Causican and Scots pine, western red cedar, Douglas fir, Sitka basically what ever comes out of FC land. As long as its dry and you don't start getting sloppy and giving wet wood out.

Snap.Altho the majority of it is larch that is exactly all I sell.I will second the wet wood thing,it dosnt take much for softwood to soak up moisture if rain can get to it.It also when seriously seasoned eg plus two years can start soaking up the atmospheres moisture and wet muggy days can easily see your logs turn up to 25 percent again.

Pubs absolutly love dry softwood,at 20percent it lights quickly giving bright very hot flames, also the crackling and popping gives the customers the atmosphere of Cosey log fire the pine smells bloody lovely aswell.

    Softwood for the win chaps!

  4. nice variation with the rings.they really blast you doing press ups on them.I struggle with them now tho since my 2nd rotator cuff injury. How many of you tried the plyometric way? If I can do them at 21 stone then none you got any excuse lol.

  5. Got to 15 first time tried and got bored so decided to try it plyometric style I dare any of you to try it this way, just for love of god don't keep arms straight on way down.

From standing start drop into pressup and push yourself back to standing and repeat process ;)

I managed 9 this way haha by god I was sore the day after.

  6. My engleburts are still hanging in tough.Used everyday hard since had them, nothing is failing. They are blinking comfy and breezy.Had some nasty run in's with barbed wire, and they just won't tear they are

immune to barbed wire I think haha.

Still the best I've used for the cash and would happily recomend them to anyone.

  7. I get asked alot what is the most beneficial exercise for a tree surgon or woodsman.Strong hips lower back, abdominals and legs are a must in this game,to prevent injury and also to aid in everyday picking up dragging and humping stuff around

The answer I came upon was zercher squats, these are similar to the traditional front squat however the bar is cradled in the crook of the arms. These tax the lower back hamstrings glutes and core like nothing else, they also mimic perfectly the correct form for lifting heavy things from the floor. If your stuck on how to correctly execute this exercise then just hit YouTube.Anybody suffering disk issues will also like this exercise as there are no compressive forces placed on the spine due to the weight not being placed across the upper back musculature.

I like to use these on my ME squat days so I stick to triples and single reps. They can be done using lighter weights and higher reps just as easily, they will get the lungs working and your entire body screaming after a 20rep set

Happy squatting folks.Your achey lower backs and sore knees will thank me.

  8. People buy these Swedish designed log stoves and order hardwood, always gives me a chuckle

softwood is the future of renewable woodfuel, grows faster quicker to harvest quicker to season,It burns alot hotter and if using the correct softwoods the burn time between larch and lump of well seasoned hardwood is very minimal considering the softwood is cheaper by far for the customer to buy. It's all I ever sell. Our family started pushing softwood around the early 60's

leave the hardwood for building frames and nice bits of furniture tis a shame to cut and burn nice lumps of oak when it could be used for somthing much nicer.

Hardwood stands are only viable as long term firewood production if properly coppiced and looked after, sadly the uk has an awful lot of abandoned coppice.

  9. Aye he cut me up on roundabout onto bypass so whipped out along side him gave him the single fingered how's ya father and gunned her, lots black smoke as usual and bye bye saxo couldn't keep up in slightest,The truck was running less than Stella as idled round second roundabout slowly then spluttered gave out puffs white smoke it started coughing and spluttering then oil pressure went and temp went thru roof.Shut her off and then inspected damage. It's second engine I'd put in her and this one had been tuned to reasonably lairy standard.I'll keep her for farm vehicle as she's an old 2door mk2 with sunroof . And swb chassis so fairly rare and I'd hate to scrap it.

However being a power junky I settled on the big six litre American brutes.

  10. Well little blue wonder truck has gone bang, cracked the head and overheated the turbo .Died in style racing(and whupping) an emasculated track suit wearing fairy in a Saxo vts.

Time has come to replace it with Somthing bigger and nastier and with more displacement and more room so I'm going down the American route

I know Billy on here rolls coal in his yank derv devil, and was wondering where to start looking.Had an eBay search and didn't return any older cummins powered dodges.

What faults to check for, best models etc any advice appreciated.

    Cheers chaps and chapettes

  11. 2x15kg and 15x25kg plates equals 405kg so about 970pound I did this after 12 sets of 2 squats on a six inch box working up to 390kg.then just repped the 405kg on leg press till couldn't move all in all with rest pause did around 112reps with that on leg press. On good day if just leg pressing without squats I can fill it full with 25kg plates just shy 2,000 pound.I don't leg press anymore as ran out of space to put plates and people on top of lol

  12. i split an awful lot by hand as im faster and the rubber didnt slide to well so may caused alot of undue pulling on joint, however it was mainly in woods when handling cord lengths on my own ,the rubber on palm helped my grip when was struggling so sort of gave me fake confidence when lifting instead of it just slipping out my hand and my grip failing itd grip the log and i could struggle on using the friction of the gloves to help me hold the wood longer overstressing my gripping muscles in forearm.I am no physio expert but thats my taking on it anyhow lol.

  13. weld the diff up or make it permo rear drive by doin away with front shaft without actually changing drive train and it will go bang quicker than soft mick.

always had issues with scoobs flat four head gaskets, played with ones in imprezas from the very twee little 2.0 sport to a 500 bhp street machine and thats always been first thing to pop,so if ragging her put in uprated one pronto.
