  1. Hi All, I'm trying to find a supplier near Aylesbury who can supply 24 x 225 x 4800mm softwood. Rough cut would be fine. I'm after 285 lengths. I've been on t'internet but it is just all too complicated.. Jewson wanted £4.50 per metre which is a little more than I wanted to pay! Lots of people supply 'standard sizes'... I need this size to finish off an existing project. Perhaps someone who can cut to order?.... Thanks!
  2. Can we get this post removed? - it's obviously spam.
  3. Have a look at these; Welcome to Sonim Technologies - Maker of the World's Toughest Phones We bought ours on ebay and got a much better price. They're pretty old school, especially when you compare them to the iPhone, but they really are tough...
  4. This might be useful too.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt3TzjTwhM0]YouTube - Easy Concrete Demolition & Rock Breaking by Dexpan Non Explosive Controlled Blasting Demolition[/ame]
  5. Check this out; http://www.pinzgauer.com/vehiclelist.php?cat=2 I asked them about shipping a Pinzgauer back to UK a while ago and it was relatively cheap so don't be too put off. I think they're based in Arizona so all their stock is dry stored year round just by virtue of where they are. There's a link to their Swiss location too... might be a bit more practical as it's within the EU.
  6. Thanks Sam... I guess I signed up for hard work when I decided to get into this sort of life. To be honest I'm really looking forward to it as I'm a physical sort of person and am a bit desk bound at the moment... wise words though. The truth is, as I'm sure you have guessed, that this is my situation. I seem to always get a wee bit of info from guys I meet on courses about their part of the world and the bit of tree work they're involved in... just wanted to get a bit more of the same from the folks on the Forum...
  7. Hi All, Imagine you're coming into the industry from the bottom. You enjoyed your CS courses... maybe have 38 and 39 under your belt... are interested maybe in doing something academic in a year or two. You are curious about forestry... intrigued with the possibility of producing timber, firewood, charcoal... not mad keen on contract work. Maybe fancy ending up with your own outfit... already love the outdoors and aren't looking to make a huge living... just enough to tick along nicely with plenty of interesting jobs. Where would you work in UK and why? Cheers...
  8. Thanks guys - that's helpful. At the moment I'm not working enough to warrant a big drum of it but I'll certainly be getting a gallon for and giggles. Cheers...
  9. Is is a massive waste of time and money or what? I was going to buy some to put in my saw/lawnmower when it wouldn't be used for a good while... months... What does everyone reckon?
  10. One thing mate... I was training for the Para 10 a couple of years ago and overtrained. I ended up with a stabbing pain behind my knee whenever I tried to mount a step etc... basically I overtrained one side of my thigh muscle which pulled my kneecap out of alignment. Just make sure that you get some mixed training in... I ended up fixing it by doing leg extensions but only the last 15 degrees. Weight train your legs in advance of walking with a pack to avoid injury. Do stuff like skipping to build up all the supporting muscles. Mix in a lot of different stuff. Hydrate a lot during your training and in the run up to the day and don't peak too early. It'll take you 20 minutes to warm up... maybe park half a mile down the road and walk up to the start at storey arms nice and easy. Maximum pasta the night before. Other than that don't forget to puke up when you cross the line. It's the rules.
  11. Cheers All, I guess it's the Stretch Air pants then. I've got a pair of Husqvarna class A pants which are just fine... seems like the extra protection is the problem! I'll post and let you all know what the fit's like - I'm sure I can't be the only one with this problem. Cheers...
  12. Hi everyone, I recently bought a pair of Type C Husqvarna Technical Trousers... trouble is, although the waist size was fine I couldn't pull them all the way up as the legs of the trousers were just too narrow. I'm quite a big lad (six foot and 18-ish stone) and although I'm obviously no skinny rake am not a fat knacker either. Just big. Has anyone else had the same problem... I tried a couple of different sizes (as in XL and XXL) but the legs were just too narrow. Even if I could have pulled them all the way up I'd have struggled to either raise my legs or bend my knees. Obviously not at all what's needed for climbing... Can anyone recommend a make of class c trousers that might suit my... erm... apparently fat legs?... I'm just about to book CS38 and work away (outside the UK) so shopping around is difficult. Am relying on Internet shopping to get hold of my kit... Thanks in advance.
