  1. Alrite desertrat, yeah still out there, should b leaving soon tho when they amalgamate with QRL. We went there in 2000 for an estimated 3 years!.
  2. Morning all, ex 9/12 Royal Lancers, love this work nearly as much as sitting in a scimitar stagging on!. Nice to see there's more of us out & about on here!.
  3. I'm ex forces, have a few tickets, like the sound of working for you. I live in South Wales & am 35. Ah well......
  4. Cheers spudulike, I took the part out this morning & you are absolutely spot on, the part no is moulded onto the shaft which I didn't realise, as they say, every day is a school day!. Many thanks!.
  5. Hi all, I'm after a little knowledge so hoping that somebody on here with more experience than me ( not hard !!! ) could help. I have in my possession a Stihl 038 Magnum which, for it's age is awesome. However, I have a problem. The Master Control Switch ( I know its called this as I've downloaded the user manual! ) has snapped so when you start it up and squeeze the trigger it cuts out. I have looked on Google & other sites but can't seem to find a supplier of these. I'm not sure if these are still made due to the amount of new models out there so is it like trying to find a spare part for a Spectrum 48K? When all there is are parts for a Sony laptop! . Would somebody be able to point me in the direction of somebody that supplies these or somebody that may have an idea. I'm desperate for this 1 piece of moulded plastic because there is no way I want to get rid of this superb saw just because of 1 little thing. So HELP........!. Cheers.
  6. Cheers m8, I've been out 5 years now & have studiously avoided all things military so completely forgot about resettlement officers & the like. Will look into a bit more now!.
  7. Hey Lyndon, thanks for helping me out. I've sent a few emails out to training providers and have so far had replies from Kingswood ( Kent ? ) and Pro-Climber which you have mentioned. Both so far seem really good but obviously I'd need something closer to home so I think Pro-Climber is winning so far. You are spot on with the knowledge on this forum and I find it awesome that people are willing to help!!. Hopefully I'll be able to get my foot on the 1st rung soon. Hope you don't mind me asking, Which courses have you completed so far then mate and how long in total did it take?, I'm just wondering coz' I've got to fit it into my shifts!. Cheers fella.
  8. Cheers Janey, I'm feeling more confident now in actually going for it!. Thanks for all the positive support, will keep it posted!.
  9. Ok then, basically, home study is good but perhaps a little hard on the un-initiated, which is definately me!. I learn best when doing hands on activities so perhaps that would be best for me with a view to doing the home study option when I've gained some experience and can get a jist of what I'm reading. I'm about to look into it now anyway with an eye to the future so thanks JANEY for helping to think about covering all bases!. I've looked @ the Kingswood site DEER MAN and have left them an email so hopefully will get a reply @ some point soon, cheers for the info!. SWINNY, where abouts are you doing your courses?, I'm after a little info on training establishments as well, I don't mind travelling as long as I end up getting good quality tuition. Again, can't thank you all enough for your help, I'm well chuffed!!!.
  10. Many thanks for the quick response!, I'm taken completely taken aback!!. I will definately look into those courses that you have told me about, I really appreciate your time fellas!.
  11. Hello all, new on here so please have a little patience with me!. I need some info on courses and hope some of you may be able to help me, Firstly, time constraints. I'm currently employed full time on a 4 shift on, 4 shift off pattern. I do this 7 times then get 18 days off. This gives me time for study though I have to squeeze it inbetween 2 toddlers & a wife working shifts as well. I left the Army 5 years ago but still have an allotted amount of money from them that will pay for training courses. The courses can only be classroom based or home study/distance learning, i.e, no practical training but I'm very lucky enough to be working and can pay for that aspect myself. I need to know what courses I can get the Army to pay for ( i.e, the most expensive ones! ) and which courses an absolute novice/beginner with no experience would best suit me. I live in South Wales ( Nr. Swansea ) and could quite feasibly do a day a week in college if there are any good providers down this way. Much apologies if these Q's have been asked before and thanks for taking the time to read this and an even bigger thankyou if you spare a minute to reply!. Al.
