  1. I have a Dovre 500 back at home in the UK, not cheap but an excellant woodburner. We were limited with choice because we live in a smoke free zone and this model has been approved for use in them.

    They all have the same active ingredient, Chitosan which is basically treated shellfish shell (nice), not to clever if your allergic to shellfish but very good at stopping major bleeds.

    Dave, there is a similar type product in use with the military (Chitosan dressings) they are only issued/used by trained personnel as you can do more harm than good if not used correctly. However I know alot of blokes who have aquired these and like you say they wouldn't hesitate to use them if required. Used on major trauma injuries only as the active ingredient Chitosan sticks pretty much instantly to any liquid present and they are only to be removed by Medical/Surgical teams.
