  1. Comfy when dry. You wait till you've been sweating in it and take it off for a brew.

Its like putting a pair a wet pants on your head.

I call it my special helmet.

My Petzl has been great but my heed is too small for it.

Second that, it stinks too! I replace the liner every month or two but it adds up ££££££.

  2. I make chilli with the cheapest pack of beef steaks I can get my hands on, cut into thick slices, with tomatoes, onions, kidney beans, and spices.

Mix it all into the pot the evening before. Next morning just put the slow cooker on low before work. The best thing is the smell when you open the door after work.

I now look down on anyone who makes chilli with minced beef. Pansies.

Its like eating puked up mans chilli, once you've had it theres no going back!

  3. Yeah the grafters are 3.5ton, but if you get the wide cab like the one in the pic then essentially it is a 5 ton downrated truck. Has a 3.5 ton towing capacity and pulls the tracked and trailer like a train. Have had the tracked and trailer which weigh around 2ton plus say 3 ton on the back (obviously not on the public highway) and the truck still pulls well. The grafters are well geared for towing

I now have a new goal in life!

That set up is the balls, very nice set up indeed! :thumbup1:

  4. Good thread.

3L slow cookers £12 in Tescos at the minute, so keep the recipes coming.

Beef shin sounds good, as does chilli with bigger lumps.

The chilli takes days, but worth it. The meat is reduced to strands of flavor, and any fat will just mix in to the sauce. Just remember to put the kidney beans in on the final day or they will be mush.

  5. Was working in a scruffy area yesterday and picked up a bike handle grip made of soft rubber. Put it over the eye splice on bluetongue and it served very well as a throw weight. Very safe too. I csn see there being some play on words on here but it is a serious thread!

Get a grip man, on yer bike!

Good idea, like the throw bag idea too:thumbup:

  6. Chilli con carne with cuts of beef, not mince. 2-3 days in the slow cooker of the rayburn and the meat just falls apart!

Also, Spanish pork. From memory, brown some cheap cuts of pork, no bone, then into the pot, a little water, lots of paprika, and half a bottle of Madeira??

Needs a good few hours, but it melts!

    Flipping pizza tonight

  7. I have to say that I love christmas, not the presents, but the atmosphere. The decorations, food, chance to put my feet up and not feel guilty.

BUT, when it all starts a month or more in advance, by the time christmas comes, I'm tired of it!

I think its a sign of the times, rather than being a couple of days of rest and celebration to brighten up the winter, its a big indulgent show:thumbdown:

  8. ........................Yet another record delivery! 2 days is incredible service!

Just done another big order with the "legends of the North" and I am so pleased with the whole experience, customer for life here

Thanks for the sweets and magazine, you guys are the best:blushing:

  9. Hi Guys,

After years of hiring sub standard chippers I have decided to approach the bank and get funding ( I hope!) for a new/nearly new chipper.

I was set on a cs100 and felt it would cope well with our needs, but after using a nearly new tw150 and being totally blown away by its performance, I think it would be an idea to aim bigger.

I think the TW125 would be ideal, but wondered if there was anything else in this price bracket that I should look at? It must be sub 750kg due to registration issues here in france, as I would be purchasing in the uk.

Any thoughts on an alternative? Not bearcat as heard bad things.

  10. As far as I can see, the introduction has been paid for, end of.

When I get work from gardeners, I tend to include them in the job, dragging brash and clearing up, they tidy the garden as they would like it for their client, and get a days bunce. win win.
