  1. Do R&T sell to "trade individuals" or just to retailers??

Just placed an order with them for a BG86, free delivery to Truro in their own van, look at their website, not a lot more than fr jones, and considerably cheaper than Truro Tractors @ £219 vs. £250!

If I was after aftersales service, I would buy local..... maybe? but it will be coming out to France, and to buy local would be £100 more than fr jones!

Also, from what I read on here, warranty repairs seem to come up short for most people, with poor communication between manufacturer and dealer, and little incentive for a speedy repair.

Good luck to Stihl, but congratulations to those dealers thinking around the problem, and doing delivery/handovers.

  2. Hi Stu,

Just boshed 3 sitka about that diameter, had a bet with the client as to how old.counted the rings and they were 38 years old. 26 meters tall, and a 28" bar just did them in a one'er, if that helps. would go with Doug fir or sitka? Bark just says sitka to me, but damned if I know why!

If the clients that ignorant, let him have it, make your price that bit higher and tell him he is bang on with pine ident. tosser tax:thumbup:

  3. phoned fr jones today to see if they would send a stihl leaf blower to my Dad in Cornwall, the guy there checked for me and came back with a "no" he said the change in policy was for things like oil, or the like, not for tools with engines, even non cutting ones like the blower, got to get my Dad to buy local now at an extra £45!

If stihl want to even the playing field for dealers, they should give them the same margins, otherwise its not going to be a difficult choice - Husqy!

  4. Could be a wound resulting from failure of a codom/weak fork. The black could be Armillaria bootlaces or later stages of Ustulina deusta. Difficult to tell from the photo. Could you post some better ones (preferably the right way up as my neck is sore!).

Just misread this, as "failure of a condom" that will teach me to just flick through!

    :blushing:

  5. Hi Chaps,

I have a little used 345 and while giving it a clean up today I thought to myself it would be a good saw to port.

I have looked at the muffler, and it has an inner wall (baffle?) with a hole about the size of a 5 pence coin, and two flared slits on the exit point.

Should both holes, inner and outer, be opened up, and by how much?

    Thanks for any advice.

  6. There is a new page, the smack break social, where you can post your videos.

This page is mine and Jonny's bastard love child, and he will be giving away a smack break t-shirt to the best video, with the most likes each month.

  7. He is promoting dangerous practices, ripping off pensioners, intimidation, bad tree care, massive exaggeration and blatant profiteering.

    I love it!

Best thing on the Internet at the minute.

    Keep them coming Jonny!

  8. I seen the logo, I'm sure we will be seeing it a lot very soon on a lot of new products coming on to the market, like "squirrel drey in a bag" and "chipper proof phones"

Its the only seal of approval I need!

And thanks for the likes on the vids Silky.

  9. Hi Guys,

A little advice required once again :001_rolleyes:

I have an avenue of 20 limes to pollard, which was scheduled for July/August, but due to a new power and phone line being installed directly over them in 2 weeks time, the job has been pulled forwards.

The contractors installing said lines have said that the trees will be felled unless they are reduced to a height of 3 meters give or take. This was the plan anyway, but I'm not sure how well they will respond to such treatment with the sap rising at the moment?

I am concerned that they will bleed heavily and die/ suffer. I have never used a wound sealer but would it help? :confused1:

    A couple of pics for reference;
