  5. i'd like to know what college you went to? when i passed at bicton college in devon, the first thing they drilled into us was the '3 knot system' i thought that you had to tie this in your assessment before they let you off the ground! in reference to your question i trust from the other messages people have sent you, that you now know what a split tail is . . . my opinion is that a prussik can be made from a 'odd' bit of rope that you have lying around (maybe old climbing rope) and this can be cut and tied into the desired size making the bridge the 'perfect' length. as for the friction hitch itself i think it is alot simpler and quicker to tie than the blacks-hitch, personal preferance though !
