  3. not on here much, as much as our lorry anyway ha but i think what ive read dean lofthouse has put some good points across! my own oppinion is you should always respect the saw you using if you are competent enough to do something with it 1 handed which you feel will be safer and not out of stupidity or to look cool:thumbup1: then it definately works! experience and a good understanding of the job is the key thing, i would never encourage anyone to do it 1 handed but there has been situations were ive went to use the saw 2 hands and realised i was safer holding my rope n reaching out with 1 hand, any way good thread dean

  6. Just been looking at photos of chainsaw accidents (kick back related) and had a brainwave, I think How come they dont make bars the same or similar as the carving bars with a pointed nose to reduce kick back?? only thing i can think of is they maybe wear away more on big saws so wed go through alot of them:confused1: any 1 know? or does every 1 but me

  15. Thanks for that paul, the bits of lowering we did was small bits and the section getting lowered did not at any point stay in the air holding its weight on the tree, the rope was ran through our hands untill we were sure the branch would miss the wall then let go gradually to hit the floor : ) We not related to bobby nor the thompson twins but there will be some thompson twins, lorrys wife is having twin boys, then my lass is pregnant too, they due 2 days apart from each other ha
  16. we hand reared 2 squirrels i was choggin down a tree n killed the mother n couple of the babys by an accident, so took the two remaining home (eyes closed and no fur) found the formula on the internet what to feed them then fed them with a teet on something similar to a syringe, they were great fun they used to tease the parrot, nick its nuts then leg it while the parrot chased them then theyd sit on 1 of our shoulders eating the nut knowing the parrot wouldnt come near us
  17. Cheers lads, the stem was cut up into sections and the client had a big industrial splitter that split them into about 3 ft lengths and he had a massive log burner, to be truthful the timber was a mess due to the ustulina that's all it was good for
  18. Cheers mate was good job, nice to do a tree that size, pitty i lost photo of the final cut on the bottom it had big nasty cavaty
  19. This beech had (Ustulina Deusta) it had 2 big cavaties about 15 - 20 ft up the stem so had to be removed. Due to the size of the tree with the buildings and obstacles underneath it, it had to be section felled carefully with the aid of a lowering system, Was a good day with my brother Lorry Thompson starting off doing the awkward bits with him having more experience then me finishing the top, and the help of our groundsman ross hodgson. Tree was down by 3pm and we were in pub by 3.30pm for the friday pint ..........Happy days!!
