  1. Has anyone got any handy hints of methods of cleaning my wire core strop. I've been dismantaling nasty conifers all day and my new strops covered in sap. any ideas on the best way of cleaning it. Would beal rope cleaner get sap off with a rope brush?

  2. I thought it was to take you out of the loop so to speak. if the strops on your side d's then you are effectivly in a loop and if the cut goes wrong and splits its going to squash you against the tree if the strops on the front d then your out of the loop. just my newbie opinion

  3. The pool of oil is just the excess from the bar lube. The pump is factory set, used to be adjustable, don't know if it still is. Once you get it into some wood and a bit of dust finds its way into the oil tank it'll soon slow down.

Cheers mate for clearing that up the oil is adjustable. I've never owned a brand new saw and thought it had a leak.

I'm with the others on the twisted vs straight shanks. Personal preference. Still bloody uncomfortable after a day with a big saw hanging off your harness.

I'm sure i'll be fine with what i've bought if i don't like them i can always sell them and get some others

  4. nice one i'm sure i'll be fine with them. also i bought a new 200t at the arb show i haven't cut wood with it yet i've had it running but afterwards maybe up to a day it has a little pool of oil under it is that just whats splashed around inside the casing and its seeping out i dont know, whats your opinion? as i dont know whether to send it back

  5. never understood the need for the twisted shanks. before geckos i used to have buckinghams. i tried a pair of twisted shanks and found them most uncomfortable

so in your professional opinion do you reckon i'll be just as well off with the straight one's?

  6. I ordered a pair of spikes the type with the L shaped leather at the arb show the other week and got a pair of velcro straps thrown in for nothing. The thing is when they've arrived there straight, now i'm new to climbing and have only done spiking on my 38 and 39 i can't remember which i used then. Is there much difference?

  7. wheres it leaking exactly, maybe just leaking out of the oil hole at the bar, esp if its too full.

its only got a 1/3 of a tank of oil. i think i may as well send it back

  8. i've just bought myself my first 200t and have filled it up with oil and it appears to be leaking from underneath? is this normal or should i send it back? any feed back greatly recieved

  9. Hi everyone, I'm a newly qualified climber living in the Nottingham area. I've been working for a arborist company for 7 months, but recently the owner went to live in australia for 5 months. I've put myself through my cs30,31,38 and 39. I have some experience climbing and would like to find employment with the prospect of working up to climbing full time. So if anyone in the surrounding areas knows of anyone who would be worth approaching or who's looking for workers it would be much appreciated. My phone numbers 07917543637
