  1. Hello all We are doing a site clearance in the Woking, Surrey area of a woodland. There is lots of perfectly straight timber coming off it which we have cut in 4m lengths. There is a mixture of sweet chestnut, ash, poplar, cherry and the odd bit of oak. Diameters are from 4" up to 10" no bigger. By the time we have it all roadside (end of this coming week) I anticipate there to be 60-80t, maybe more. This is from the first 4acres. There is still over 20acres to come off. If anyone is interested in it then please let me know. Looking for £50/t. Arrange your own haulage. Alastair. 07814 006639
  2. We are looking for a self employed climber for up to 4 weeks starting from the 16th September. You will be assisting an already very competent climber in tree operations so must be happy to ground as well as climb. Must have own PPE, climbing gear and top handled saw. Larger saws will be provided, Duties will be predominantly felling, dismantling and pruning. There is a good possibility that it will be for longer than 4 weeks. Ideally be Berkshire based but if you wanted to travel to reading/maidenhead area for 07:30 start daily then that's up to you. Please contact Alastair on 07814 006639 to discuss further. please DO NOT text in the first instance.
  3. Glad your back at work Alistair. Good, professional, reliable and well respected climbers are hard to come by. There is nothing wrong with dragging brash and lifting logs wether you turnover £120k, 400k or 50k. I believe it's called being committed to your job and haveing a passion for being and doing whatever is needed to get to the next job or complete a task. Your safety is a number 1 priority in any situation and sounds like you made the right call not to climb. The chap you were working for ought to take a look at HIS business management skills and site safety procedures. Is it not an offence to fell a tree over a public highway without closing the road?!
  4. How much is that yellow chipper?
  5. I run a Jensen A540 (9x7.5") and am very very pleased with it. Before I brought us 2 years ago I had the timber wolf rep and redwood uk rep come with there 8" machines at the same time (didn't tell them I was doing this, should of seen their reaction!!). I had prepared a while pile of dead elm from 4-8" to get an idea of speed of intake, stress cut in and chip quality. The timberwolf was a shower of ****, slow and struggled with the bigger stuff. I also didn't liked the way in which you couldn't get into the engine and flywheel to change the blades and service. In the negotiation process redwood came down to the same price as the timberwolf and both offered a free set of blades. For me the Jensen on tracks was a no brainier. Have had no problems with it, service and support has been 2nd to none from redwood uk and have never got it to any difficulties with it. For me these 2 were the only contenders for chippers. I'm sure there are other good chippers (schliesing are good but need to rob a bank first and the rep in Berkshire is a proper bellend) on the market, but being the first time buying a chipper I didn't want to fanny around with reps from not so common machines. Alastair
  6. budget is not really the issue. i would rather pay a little more and have a good honest vehicle rather than pay less and have a whole host of problems. i saw a lovely 110 on ebay not so long ago. it was a 58 plate in sliver. that was on for £18k i think with 50,000 miles on. I will not entertain a vehicle which has done silly mileage. I have looked at the others and have had my eye on the ex-mod website. thank you all for your looking and help. the search continues!
  7. I would like to buy a 130 ASAP. must be no older than 6 years, have a good chip box, heavy duty suspension, plated to 3.5t, winch, off road tyres and be in very good order. if you know of any about please let me know as they seen to be rare as rocking horse poo! there is a lot of crap on ebay and have been advised against buying from nene overlander. Im based near Reading, Berkshire
  8. hello I am looking for a freelance climber for the day in Swanley - just off the M25/M20 junction. I will pay £200 for the day but must be experianced in the tree. Job is to dismantle a large eucalyptus in a back garden. Alastair
  9. We are looking for an experienced climber to join our small but expanding team. Based just outside reading, you will have a minimum of ariel rescue, using saw from rope and harness and climbing tickets. Minium of 3 years experience in the tree is preffered. When we are not doing tree work you must be happy to cut hedges, grass and general grounds maintenance duties. A full clean driving licence is necessary. If this position interests you then please call 07814 006639.
  10. Good evening all. I am looking in the next month or so to purchase a landrover 110/130 tipper either with a chip box already fitted or I will have one made. Can anyone either give me advice on them or let me know if you may have one. Would prefer a single cab and a chip box with tool storage or failing that a double cab with no tool storage in the chip box. I would hope find one around the 2004-2007 vintage with average miles. Thank you in advance.
