  10. Worked as a dryliner and ceiling fixer for 6 years and work had dried up so I fancied a career change and my Father-in-law talked about Tree surgery, it sounded good, and it'd be nice to work outside for a change, so i got my cs 30/31 tickets and i'll be starting the cs 38 course at Myerscough on the 1st of march, so... Im looking for a tree surgeon who needs a Groundsman, im a fast learner, a healthy 30 year old and im sure i could be up to speed in no time, I just need the experience as ultimately i want to be a climbing Arborist but i know i'll have to work my way up ( pardon the pun), so i know i need to learn the basics first, i have all the PPE, MS260 chainsaw 15" bar, I have my own transport, even if its only 1 or 2 days cool no problem, I live in Burnege, rochdale next to the m62, If you have anything let us know, Or maybe you know of someone in need of a groundsman, Many thanks for reading guys.
  11. Your right Peckerwoo, I've done a little voluntary work and its great for the experience, but im leaning more to the paid work for not just the obvious reason but my missus works full time and i need to at least earn enough to have my child in nursery while im at work
  12. Cheers guys for all your words of support.
  13. Just on the outskirts of rochdale (Burnege) next to the m62
  14. Hey Felix first of all i got to thank you for all that advice, I'll take everything you said here onboard, as you say i will take every opportunity that comes my way, im 30 years old and I've been in the building trade for 6 years and with the recession work as been slow,no matter how hard you work as a subby companies look after there own before you are considered, with that i decided to change career, so here i am cs 30/31 tickets and hungry for work, Felix did you offer your services on here to get work or did you ring arb companies
  15. Cheers Old snake, I'll keep that in mind,
  16. Yeah Cheers Old Snake, Iv'e been reading The Tree Climber's Companion, but im in need of some good old hands on experience, I might be going climbing at the weekend with a tree surgeon friend, fingers crossed
  17. Now iv'e passed my cs30/31 im looking for work to get me started in this bussiness, if any one has work for a hard working guy who's new to the scene or knows some good companys to get in contact with could they let me know, I have all PPE, MS260 Stihl Chainsaw, And own transport. Cheers.
  18. I think i downloaded the schedules of the NPTC website, also Myerscough College posted them to me
  19. Just to let some of you know i passed the cs 30/31 today, I must of read the Schedules at least 10 times, so for any of you going in for your cs 30/31 tickets, READ THE SCHEDULES AS MANY TIMES POSSIBLE, you wouldnt believe how much this helps to passing the tests, Im also booked in for the cs 38 on the 1st of March so i have just over a month to learn as much as i can about tree climbing and tree identification. I must say a massive thanks to Treequip, he taught me a hell of a lot in one day, and i know I wouldn't of done half as well on the course if it hadn't of been for him giving up some of his time and passing on some of his knowledge to me, Cheers Andy!
  20. Hello again, finished off cs 30 today and started cs 31 about 11am reading through the shedule....my god do i have to remember all that word for word , watching dennis risk assess the surounding area then fell a medium to small pine, didnt look too hard, then it was our turn, i kept forgetting to pull my visor down (maybe i should just leave it down all day), i felled my tree correctly but i bricked it when i was just finishing my back cut as dennis shouted "THE TREE'S FALLING!" I didnt expect it as i'd watched the other lads cut there back cut and then use a felling level to send it over, mine had just enough forward lean to send itself, anyways dennis said it was an excelent cut (ahem!)........and it would of got me a pass, now its time to read the schedules AGAIN...lol....thanks for reading guys, please leave comments or/and advice guys cheers.
  21. Just to give an update to anyone thats intrested, i started the cs 30 course today, it went really well and Dennis is a really nice instructor, the other 3 lads on the course have little or no chainsaw experience which means were all at the same level, amazing that 60 percent of the day was talking about the saw chain, theres definetly more than meets the eye to a chain, and im just about to read some of the stuff given to us to read (homework), will let you all know how tommorow goes, we're at a small forest next to a reservoir in bolton off the A 666, Thanks for reading
