Well it's been 15 years since I've been a land rover owner and I've looked at just about every other 4x4 in an attempt to avoid having to pay the huge sums required to purchase an uncomfortable, unrefined vehicle. But as nothing else is comparable, I've returned to the green oval! Some of you may recognise it as an arbtalk members.. There's one less landy in hudderfield! Cheers Kev enjoy the Transit:001_smile:
Just need to paint it yellow to match the iveco!
oh dear, who's going to winch me out now?

really sad news. i didn't realise yew berries (or any other part of the tree) could kill you, just thought they would make you ill....
the flesh on the berries is not poisonous, just suck the flesh off and spit out the seed, they're delicious. the foliage is deadly though. very sad that someone would take their life this way

looks like classic monkey damage to me:biggrin:

Just a word of caution, beware the fox, well you didn’t need telling that did you but also beware the Rainford.
You will come out one morning and find he has painted it red and bolted that to the back of a jap pickup:001_tt2:

main knot i climb on, never slips, gets tight if shocked/overdressed, eats cheapo builders gloves for fun. i always use a 1.5m length with whatever stopper knot in the tail.

as the lunchtime convoy of young mechanics (including me in my mini) set off towards the cafe up the road from mechanics college, i was leading when i spotted a red traffic light at a crossroads i was nearly up to, slamming on the anchors i stopped level with the line, my mate in the done up cavalier behind almost hit me then my mate in another mini hit the back of the cavalier quite hard, i wasn't there for the cavalier to roll forwards into as i had realised i'd braked for a harmless filter lane red and set off again through my still green light. they were both a little bit annoyed when i returned after lunch

boiler broke last week:cursing: so yes the fire is lit, nearly used the last of the seasoned wood in the yard now (maybe 1cubic metre left), then its time to get next years wood split and seasoning nicely for winter.

we have this avant tracked dumper, its brilliant for extracting big rings and tipping them into the trailer, moving trailers around (even loaded right up), general yard work and is pretty economical now its got a diesel engine instead of petrol. today we had 600 block paving bricks on it and it didn't seem to notice [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-i2TsO4C8Y]YouTube - Dumpy[/ame]
edit. i think avant stopped making tracked machines in favour of wheeled ones

collection after payment has cleared? sounds like a scam to me, if i was a bit more bored i would ring them and play games.
-
everytime i see a waster walking down the road drinking skol i think 'i paid for that', the scrubbers in line outside the post office waiting to be handed the money i earned before they go in the pub/bookies and waste it. i don't get mad though, just biding my time till one of them jaywalks in my lane

Glamourises what sure aint glamourous; it's a hard life in the woods.
i watched it and wanted all the kit and the glamour, i wanted to zipline to work, most of all it'd be nice to get to work and the rain stops and the sun comes out, might even get a lunge in posing on top of a mountain. advertising seems to work:thumbup:

ryobi are designed to put homeowners off working in their gardens

i'm no expert but that looks like its been dead a while:biggrin:

Armchairarborist, the treatment used is Wykabor:
It's a very economical way to prevent almost all mould. Costs me about £25 per kiln load plus the labour for spraying.
Iain - you of all people should know about delegation of work!
thankyou, i'm off to order some now
-
is that an anti mould spray? whats in it? tell me to sod off if its a secret recipe:thumbup: looks like you had a good productive run, some nice bits there:thumbup1:

i like the idea of it helping in certain situations, but i'm sure it will take the place of education for many, what i mean is people will rely on that giving them the answers to everything instead of knowing from experience, take it away from them and they will be lost

we spent most of the morning eating cake, drinking tea and trying to work out who's truck is the tallest, then removed the fences and waited for the ladies to put all the horses in a different field. every time i looked at the tree the weight seemed to be in a different part of the crown, not an easy one to weigh up for a fell, when test-pulling the tug line, the tree wanted to spin round due to the extensive cavity.
