  1. Sorry maybe I'm wrong but i live in a town and work in a few locally and they all contain factories, roadsides, woodland, golf clubs, parks, farmland, houses etc. So not sure what that comes under? I certainly don't live and work in a rural area (countryside areas that contain villages or hamlets) But like I said everyone's urban is different, not all cities, towns and built up areas have been built or developed the same. Some cities or towns may not have a golf club, public park or woodland.
  2. I suppose everyone's urban is different, mine would consist of factories, roadsides, woodland, golf clubs, parks, farmland, houses etc. Thanks
  3. Hi treequip, Sorry I think you have miss read. I said it was to be used mostly for urban tree work not domestic. Lee
  4. Eddie Thanks so much for your advice I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I totally understand what you are saying about the machine being specialised to parallel digging and so is a disadvantage for other applications in tree work. Being the first machine I've owned I was afraid of buying a bad machine that might need repair etc and so bought this because it was an hitachi with low hours and had been advised by plant guys I know that they are a great machine so ended up getting it! Money was obviously the major factor in the purchase also because if it wasn't I wouldn't have bought the knuckle boom. The selector grab I think is amazing as you say but I just can't afford one! I won't be going down the mulcher root, just a flail for bramble and ground scrub, not trees/wood. As you said Eddie, I think a converted hedge cutter head would be realistic to my needs. A tree shear would be great for some of the work we get as it could cut along roadside or lower trees/hedges but nothing large. I'm gonna use the machine to help us on larger tree jobs with the grapple and land rake and hope that it is hired out maybe just as a digger because locally you can't get a 5-7 ton machine without the hassle of having an account with a large plant company. I hope the machine can pay it's way that way and we have a machine to help with tree work. Thanks again Eddie for your advice, what you are saying is right, If it goes well with this machine then I would love to hopefully upgrade in the distant future. I'm only a young buck! Ha Lee
  5. Hello Eddie, I only have digging buckets, 5 tine grapple and am ordering a rake soon to get started but I've got a long list of mods and attachments I want for it. Next job will be to have it piped for attachments and have safety guards fitted. A tree shear (tigercut) and flail would be great to make it more specialised locally. I would prefer to hire it out with a driver but would be ok to hire to people I know well! And I would operate it if required but will need to get qualified. Can you advise? Thanks Lee
  6. Hello arb diggers! I've just bought this hitachi ex75ur 2001 knuckle boom excavator and am in the process of trying to set it up for tree work. I'm hoping through a number of contacts it will be hired out either as a digger or with specialist attachments such as, grapple, rake, ripper, flail, tree sheer etc. I would expect the tree works it would be doing mostly will be urban so the rubber tracks suited me. I would like to have a cage fitted to protect the operator/cab and it needs piping for any hydraulic attachments. Can anyone advise me of what certificates are needed to operate it and if I am hiring it out with an operator, what paper work is required? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Lee

  10. Hello, I need a large excavator with mulching head for one or two days in Dagenham next month. The job is to clear a banking of brambles and bits of dead branches between trees that are to be left untouched. The only reason I say it needs to be a larger machine is only for the extra reach down the banking, the clearing itself is very light scrub with occasional dead wood on the ground otherwise a flail would have done the job. Also the ground is to be mulched after the job for aesthetics. The job is on a site so no pedestrians or traffic to worry about and is on 24hour security. Any info appreciated! Lee

  14. This is a large Beech butt taken down a couple of weeks ago, it weighs approx 4.5 ton, is 7ft wide at its widest and approx 15ft tall. I think this piece is very unique and needs some one with vision to sculpt something special. As you can see the butt is stood up by itself with no additional support so can be moved anywhere needed. Im looking to sell this and i think someone here could make some money if they put some time in on it. I was quoted £1500 - £2000 to carve it and couldn't afford it. Im after £350 for it and delivery can be arranged seperatly (same guy who lifted it here) It is located in Wigan Thanks Lee

  18. If you dont mind me asking how exactly does that work? Do you pay for the hire of the (wagon, crane, chipper) then have the artics take the chip for free, or do they come as one unit? as Jonsie asked, did they pay you or vice versa?
