Lucky Leaf,
Good answer to the op. Nice to see folks giving honest helpful input.
Long may the good ship Arbtalk sail!

Off on a 1 week last minute holiday Near Shrewsbury Shropshire tomorrow!
Local guys, can you give me a heads up as to what would be good to see/where to go while I'm there?
Thanks alot.....

We just use a couple of scaffold boards. Cheap and easy to replace......

I've never had an application refused so am unable to comment.
Not a fat lot of use but at least someone has finally replied.......

Hi Graham, welcome aboard the good ship Arbtalk.
Sharing experiences both good and bad is always useful. Enjoy yourself at Jonsie's do it is always a good laugh, he does know how to put on a good bash.
The only criticism I have is no alka seltzer or industrial strength headache sweets on sale on Saturday morning:001_tt2:

My Neo is a "York" one that I picked up from a sports shop and the elastic stayed one I got from a place called the Range in Norwich, they are about all over the show though. The elastic one had shoulder strap thingys but I just cut them off. Neither was very expensive from memory. Stay fit and happy!

I have two, one is just a neoprene type and the other is like spud's i.e. elastic with stiff supports. I generally stick both on. I go to Pilates and do exercises like the ones spud mentioned. I prolapsed two discs a couple of years ago (which put me out of work for 5 months) so will do whatever it takes to look after my back.

Lop and Top, the majority of us using this forum consistently try to promote a professional image of our industry.
As the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything positive to say then don't say anything"!

Those who shout loudest often have the least to say.
Better to sit there and let people think you are a fool than open your mouth and prove it.

Really good effort there!
The only thing I would point out is you've put 'to' as opposed to 'too' in the no job to big or small text on the home page.
That aside you should be really proud of your work. Looks excellent!

Good effort Ty. Working on sites of this nature can often be a humbling and thought provoking experience. Once again well done.

Fair shout woodguy!

Done. Good on ya Jennie, hope your shoulder is all sorted now.

You're not kidding there, we were sized up by a van going past twice slowly the other day. Having had 6 saws stolen a few years ago we re now ultra careful about the gear.
Gutted for you mate.

Having read Dan's review on here I bought myself a MS150T. This is probably the best purchase I have made in the last 10 years. This is always my saw of choice when I'm in the tree and only reluctantly ask for the 200 to be sent up.
Get one, you won't regret it!

Totally agree with you treequip

Try Eastec. Look in the training section on here for contact details......

Nah - Hand Grafted logs!

Cheers Paul, much appreciated!

Following on from this is the ICE system.
Basically it stands for In Case of Emergency.
Just put ICE before your wife/girfriend's/relative's name in your contacts on your phone (e.g. ICE Anna) and the emergency services will use this as a first contact in the event of an incident.
Here's hoping none of us need to use it!

Cheers chap appreciated!

Paul,
Your calcs seem to tie in with my previous thoughts on load factors but I can't recall where I first heard it from. Do you have a ref or citation? Cheers.

"For each meter of free fall multiply its original weight by 3+1.
1m Free fall with 4ft 12" diameter Beech, shock load of 80kg X 3=240kg +80Kg=320kg
2m Free fall X6 +original 80kg = 560Kg
So for the original post,- 1000kg X3 +1000= 4000kg"
Mog, looking at Paul's post above, I think his calculation uses multiples of 3 then the original log weight added on after, as opposed to a straight log weight times four.
Have a look at the below to see if I am making sense
Pauls way 2m Free fall X6 +original 80kg = 560Kg
Your way 8 X 80kg = 640Kg
This leads to a difference in your calc of + 80Kg. Whilst this is a fault in the right direction i.e. overestimating the load, I think you may have missed a trick with Paul's original calculation.
Hope I've got this right or I'll look a complete tit!
