    crane job

We did a crane job at work last week, it was moving an 11.5 tonne dead oak to a council field for kids to play on! it was fun getting it off the tractor and trailor!!!
  2. theres 2 on the first page!
  3. Unimogs are rubbish they dont hold anything! our new lorry is good on grass and banks has a low box and diff locks and a fat winch and can hold huge amounts of chip and tools if you tow the 9" 3.3L tracked chipper you can do any job anywhere, and its comfortable on the motorway and all the kit is safely locked away unimog 0 merc vario 1!!!! end of mog boys!!!!!!
  4. the lorry hasnt really been off road yet! it was loaded up to the gunnholes today apparently! and the suspension wasnt bovvered, it didnt even look loaded! we winched the old lorry to the new one that was funny! i havent really been in or chipped in the lorry much as ive been off doing other jobs! today i was hired out with the jensen to another company to chip connie and pop like a bitch all day long, brash and fat 9" logs! the chipper got so hot it wee'd itself!!! today was proberbly the hardest day ive had ever! i was chipping like i was on steroids!
  5. yeah the landys well nice! its so nice to drive and sounds really nice!! it just needs mud terrain tyres as it always leaves ruts! and soon it will have a winch!!
  6. Hello evryone! i work for lawrence tree services as a groundsman and have been for about 3 years weve just got the new 4x4 814 lorry finished after about a year! it looks and sounds awsome, it was bought from a power company with a big white back on, it was taken off completely painted chassis and cab and a tgs ally back put on it with a huge toolbox and its got a winch aswell! and the landrover weve had for about a year pretty much the same but smaller! and the jensen weve also had for about a year its a beast and oblitorates 9" skinny poplar limbs! im the main user for the jensen! it gets anywhere and tows stems around so easily, you wouldnt believe what it chips!!! ! ive flipped the tracks 3 times in 3 different woodlands its hard trying to avoid stumps all day! its so hard to get back on especially on a bank! thanks for looking, keep sawing evryone!!!!!
  7. ive cut my knuckle open and had 3 stiches with a silky and had a pyrocanthia thorn cut out with 2 stiches and my arms are allways scratched due to all the chipping it do!!!
  8. from what ive heard from other people and my experence with 220mx's in the middle of the chute gets a small bulge then it gets bigger and bigger til it cracks open, the same with a 6" wessex i used in hereford!! and the chute starts to block which is anoying!!
  9. the answer's no! it brakes fine with a full load we only go very short distances < 10 miles with full loads, when we worked with browns forestry the guy there had a 130 with an uncovered chip box his was wobbling at 40 so he fitted uprated bushes and it sorted the problem!! it does need wider tyres tho! with a full load of chip it allways sinks!! i see what you guys mean tho it is overloaded, we mainly use it for kit and some logs and use the lorry for chipping in! il have some photos in the next few weeks of our new lorry its a mercedes 814d 4x4 tgs coachworks tipper its huge!!
  10. i just pick it up put it in the hopper and get a shovel and push! using a fork is dodgey as its just the right size to go through the rollers (as one guy working with us found out!!!)
  11. lets face it all tree surgeons overload their trucks! weve all done it, putting all the chip, logs and kit on so we dont have to come back the next day! 1.5 tonne overloaded isnt that bad! i know people that have been overloaded over double that!!
  12. yeah i use weilding gauntlets at the moment there really good! i just wear anstell hyflex's underneath, slip the gauntlets off and use the saw!! its the quickest way!!
  13. um i would have thought about 4.5-5 ish! i dont know exactly tho! when its fully loaded with chip you cant go over 40! as it gets a propper sway on! and with a chipper even less!! it sinks really easily on wet ground fully loaded as its got the skinny tyres, it got stuck today and i got it completely grounded out in chippenham!! the axle was sat on the ground and the towbar was under ground level with a chipper on the back!!! whoops! my boss was not happy!!!
  14. thats a really good idea! but the guys at work would rip it out of me!!!! obviously the sleeves arnt going to provide 100% protection but should stop the majority of thorns! my forearms are covered in loads of small scarrs from 3 years of thorns!! ive recently started wearing a coat to protect my arms but it makes you sweat like mad!! i might just try the sleeves on at a shop and see what there like! thanks for the help guys! alex !!
  15. Ive been a chipper boi for about 3 years now and 2 years part time at college! i really like the shleising 220MX apart from 2 bottom feed rollers and towbar dampers nothing ever goes wrong, our chute has a small crack in tho at the usual place for chippers! also the jensen tracked A350 9.5" chipper is excellent! especially when chipping poplar! its a monster! it does struggle with really small bits tho, getting caught at the end of the rollers! i hate greenmechs and the turbo timberwolf there both anoying to use!!
  16. Weve got one at work! there pretty much as powerful as a 44 weigh less and are quite nimble for snedding out and they sound really raspy aswell!! our 2 year old one blew up tho! and cost about £200 to fix which was a bit unexpected! its my favorite saw of choice a really good saw methinks!!
  17. Hi evryone! im alex from bristol! i did a 2 year ND in Forestry/Arboriculture in hereford, i finished and have been working with Lawrence Trees for 3 years now! its hard work and long hours but fun!!
  18. hello all! SIP tree surgeons sleeves are they any good? im fed up of getting thorns in my arms and my arms getting mega scratched due to blackthorn hawthorn and bramble whilst feeding the tracked jensen 9" beast! ive got weilders gloves but need arm protection! many thanks Alex!!
  19. and WHEN the mini breaks down your screwed! im glad i still dont have my mini this time of year flipin heck!!!
  20. A guy that used to work with us climbed a tree with a zip wire on, he clipped is amuminium karabiener onto it got halfway across, it burnt out and he fell !!!! he wasnt hurt but got majorly laughed at by evryone!!!!
