well the beauty of the coring/boring/drilling techniques and that includes resisto graph is that you CAN drill down ward into roots and butt to get the below ground decay.
Do you not worry about the effects on tree health from drilling holes in it?

the problem I've found with Arboricultural services is the majority don't even not what Arboriculture is or what a Arborist does.
If i say I'm a tree surgeon most people know what i mean but, i feel, its a bit outdated and not in line with modern Arboriculture.
I welcome opinions though hence the poll.
I'm thinking about names too. I'd love to be called XX arborist or arboricultural services- sounds more professional and includes more than cutting trees- but 90% domestic clients don't seem to know what arb is... so if domestic 'tree surgery' is your business i don't think an 'arb' name is any good.

The 14hoss is £3,495 plus, whilst the 18hoss with electricstart is £3,995 plus. Apart from the battery and starter the weight is the same as near as dammit.

Pollards, coppices, and rejuvinates life itself from the ashes of death.
All very interesting! great photos, you've proved me wrong but i didn't think it normally responded very well to pollarding or coppicing?
Love the birchwood knife

I am aware of these rules, however, I'm a self-employed freelance climber and I know I've got to get the job done to earn the money. The reality is x number of blokes have to get x amount of work done a day to earn the money, if that means all day ringing up a trunk with a big saw - then so bit it.
I began to suffer badly with white finger about 5 years ago. I narrowed it down to using HT75 polesaws/hedgetrimmers in the end - theres no AV to protect your hand when you hold the shaft. I avoided using them (and when I had to, used AV gloves) and I also started taking Ginko Biloba every day to improve my circulation. Thankfully, the condition rarely bothers me now.
Ginko helps circulation? worth taking?

I'm surprised you use a video, trying to sell your product to professional users, where the person in the video is not wearing proper PPE.
Looks good if you do lots of hedge trimming though.

My l200 has hooks, 1 in each corner of the bed, liner has been trimmed to get to them easier.

These look really good
How hard is it to control the speed of larger branches? Do you get lots of vibrations?
-
I've got a 346xpg 15" bar. Love it! light, VERY good vibrations ,heated handle, powerful (for a small saw) and cuts quickly.
May not feel as solidly built as a Stihl but i can't comment on reliability/life as i have not had it long.

I was thinking about fresh green wet stuff bought in by the lorry load. I know its hard to say weight into volume but i was just wondering.

Just because some one does not know the name of the cut, doesn't mean he doesn't know the cut
He probabley uses these cuts every day!
Why not just explain the cut?
Its hardly rocket science, although when you look at the cost of the courses you'd think it should be!!
Thanks, but maybe i don't know all these cuts?
I would have thought there would be an online guide somewhere?
Charlie.

I live in North West Essex and looking for a job in the Arb industry. I'm just about to finish my college course, and i'm looking for any work- full time, part time, groundie or climber. I'm hard working and ambitious, looking to work for a reputable firm within an hours drive.
Please PM me if you know of any opportunities in this area, or if you want to know any more details.
Charlie.

Hand held step cut, free fall step cut, hand held sink cut, free fall sink cut
Sorry to sound stupid but what are these cuts!? anywhere that explains?

I would suggest making reasonable enquiries of Land Reg & Council re land ownership, keeping all corres of course. Notify Council of intention and do the work if no objection. Gather evidence (photos, notes) of 'danger'! The reality probably is that any owner doesn't care, hence the condition of the site, but one's arse can get stung if not well and truly covered!
The bit about claiming land as their own is probably a reference to the rule about fencing off such land and maintaining it for ?10 years with no objection from the owner and thus gaining ownership, or at least proprietary rights (not the same thing) but it's a legal grey area (what isn't?!)
In your position I'd happily go for it.
Thats what i thought!
Thanks for your advice

'Wasteland' or 'owner unknown' land? Land registry should be able to help if necessary. Later this year I'm going to down a dead 60' Monkey Puzzle that's in woodland just outside the garden of someone to whom it's a danger. The danger aspect helps me I know but I'll have no qualms because I trust the garden owner who says that Land Registry and the local council don't know who owns the wood but importantly I shall be doing nothing dishonest. The elements of 'dishonesty' and 'honestly held beliefs' are important when it comes to matters of allegedly stealing or damaging someone else's property. If you are honest in your dealings and your beliefs are reasonable you shouldn't fall foul of the criminal law. Civil law is different so if you want the work it would probably be sensible to make some enquiries re land ownership.
Thanks.
Good friend of my mums so would like to help her...
It may be 'owner unknown', a few years ago they asked the Tree officer if the council could do something about the trees thinking it was council land but its not, thought to be owned by the developer (its in-between 2 housing estates).
Will get them to ask, so if land registry says no one owns it its ok to do any work? They did have some legal advice a while ago and told to move their boundry back and claim it as theirs! There is one 'hazardous' tree, a dead 15 or 20 foot hawthorn but the rest are healthy.
Thanks

... going onto someone elses property and felling a tree?
I'm thinking trespass and criminal damage? Not removing arisings so no theft. Possible prison, or just a big fine?
Someone has asked me to remove a few trees from some wasteland next to their garden... i want to explain how serious it could be and why i don't want to do it...
Thanks, charlie.

Love my timberland anti vibe gloves. Just ordered a spare pair. I think they work very well

Yes. I suppose i meant do you think drilling techniques could ever increase the risk of tree failure (even if the results you get from drilling indicate plenty of 'good' wood)
