  1. thats what i intended the site to be, im so glad thats what its become, and its all thanks to the members

Its spot on Steve, i go on another forum, nothing to do with trees, on there its just constant bickering and slagging people off and its meant to be a place where like here evryone has something in common, but you'd never know it............

Arbtalk group hugs all round mate............:001_tongue:

  2. Well i'd just like to show a bit of Arbtalk appreciation.......:001_smile:......... i've not been a member here that long, but in the time i've been here i must say it's a cracking site, always people on hand to give advice and the benefit of their wisdom and experience and so far i dont think i can recall a time where anyone has been rude or insulting, the advice given is done in a nice constructive manner................so i'd just like to say a big thanks to all the people so far that have helped me out with questions and PMs and to the folk i've met that have put some work my way, a big thankyou, its what these places should be about.............:001_smile::001_smile::001_smile:

  3. you can fit both visors at the same time but you need to hook the little springs up differently so it can fit.

Rod what way do you hook the springs up differently and does it stay clear of the visor throughout the up and down motion???

I just got one yesterday from gustharts with a smoked visor and the mesh guard, with upgraded ear muffs for £97

  4. just looked it up in Strouts and winter. Could also be causican canker of lime. When the tree flushes is the top upper most crown foilage yellowed and lacking foilage?Any cankers on the Stem?Dying bark?Staining below the cankers..black brown stains?

Apart from the crack and cavity, the actual tree doesn't look too bad, couldnt say about foliage mate as i've not seen it yet in that state. I'll have a look through and see if i can find any pics of the tree.

  5. mmm..could be a slime flux or bacterial wetwood me thinks.Does it smelly funny like methane?

Couldn't get my hand in to touch it or smell it, had to press my phone up to the gap in the stem to get the pick, there seemed to be a few patches of it and the stem looks well decayed inside, but the tree on the whole doesn't look too bad.........compared to some of the others!!!

  6. I would say this cos I know the tree officer on the show, but I think you are being too harsh on him.

For the purposes of the show exposing the dodgy traders they obviously needed a tree for them to look at and work on.

I am not sure that James was recommending a dead wood operation but rather suggesting that at the most that is all that should be done. The fact that they then removed healthy limbs and left the deadwood just goes to show their ignorance. (unless they were secret conservation/ecology geeks and were just aiming to leave some great habitat).

It wasn't the best set-up for a show really but there we go.

Alright mate, i think is only right you defend the guy if you know him and think he's ok..........have you had a chance to speak to him since the programme was aired to see if he was being guided in any way as to what they wanted him to say or what they were wanting to achieve???

Any idea when it was filmed??? that helmet he provided for him to try climbing in wasn't really upto scratch either was it???

  7. How many of you were climbing? Was it a big group?

    Hope the chap is alright.

There were 2 climbing and only 5 of us in the group and i was extra cos i'd been in doing my CS30 and 31 and had gone up to do the touch tapes.

  8. One thing guys

all air ambulances in the UK are charaties, funded by donation.

when ever you hear things like this makes you think of putting your hand in your pocket

even if only a few pennies as you never know when you a mate or a loved one may need one

i do a couple of charity bike rides n stuff for our one

    kev

Exactly what i was thinking when they were there in minutes of the call and checking him over, the paramedic, which was the car type, took a good 10-15 mins to get there!!!!!
