  1. Well got the phonecall today and the job is not going to be happening this year.............................. this is due more to the fact that they cant provide the various things i need at the moment. Bit of a pisser but what can you do.........i think they thought i could just pop out on my own and do anything that was required, they did say that they would have another look at it next year and see if they could find a budget that would allow the necessary things for the job, so i guess we'll wait and see....................i might be more expensive by then though..............:001_tongue:

  2. poor choice of words there james considering your final destination:ohmy:

joking aside, good for you, will be happy to support

Very funny.......i'm originally from Brighton and the only sore arse i got was from worms.........well thats what i say anyway..............:001_tt2:..........i did this ride when i was a nipper, at the time i was one of the youngest to do it, about 13 yrs if i remember correctly. Its a fun day out and even if you're not in tip top shape you'll get through it, unless they've changed the route, its got some amazing downhill sections that are well needed, not too good going up ditchling beacon i think it is towards the end!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Its Drayton estate in Lowick, just waiting on a phonecall now to see whtether its a goer or not. Shouldn't have a problem with wood and chip disposal as it'll all go on the estate, might be able to offer the facility for people around there to drop off logs chip too.

I'll be alright as i'm a southerner really just live up north now!!!

  4. How many members do we have near and around kettering???

I've got an interview for a large estate there coming up and if all is ok will be looking at relocating, some of my family live there, but thinking more along the lines of helpful contacts for that area..........:thumbup1:

  5. Anyone got any tips or advice for footlocking??? i've been asked to be part of the climbing team for college for the comp in may at merrist wood, we've not done any footlocking and although i know the principles, am wondering if you have any tips that make it easier..........also do you have to wear chainsaw boots or can you do it in walking boots???

  6. Well last wednesday i started to feel a bit sick whilst sitting in the car, this very quickly turned to a searing pain in the back of my head, so got home and took myself off to bed. As the hours past i could barely move and the pain was starting to move down the left of my body, started taking some painkillers which had no effect. On the thursday my misses insisted i went to the doctors and after being examined was told to go straight to casualty!!!

When i got there it was rammed full of people but i was taken straight through for a brain scan, then carted off to the emergency care unit and given a lumber puncture too. all the results came back clear and i had alot of doctors standing around scratching their heads..........the best plan they could come up with was to keep me in over easter and watch me!!!!

Now i'm not one for doctors and hospitals so managed to persuade them to let me home with the promise of going back in if it got worse, so i've spent the whole easter in bed drugged up on painkillers from the hospital.........the head pain comes and goes now, but my back is still sore from having a needle stuffed in my spine and to top things off i've got my CS39 on wednesday!!!!

  7. I wish him a speedy recovery to full health.

Was the cause of the accident found? (You may have said in the initial thread but I think I missed it if you did)

Not that i know of mate, the climbing stuff was all working ok and nothing had snapped in the tree, so i can only assume it was down to his not doing something right while changing over lines, but with him not remembering either what happened i guess nothing will ever come of it as a resolution.

  8. OUCH!!!!!!!!

I must admit that the week following this lads fall, i didnt think of much else, the sound as he hit the deck was constantly ringing in my ears!!!!! But it has probably taught me a lesson that no amount of horror stories would have done..........the next climb i did was a bit more check, check and check again type thing, instead of just taking it for granted that the crabs have snapped back and double checking anchor points, people are talking at college whether they'll now stop people getting timed on touch tapes??? I think its a bit naff really, cos if that's the case, say someone has an accident with a chainsaw, do they then say we're not allowed to use them either????

  9. Er?No. Not in my experience, mostly never actually.

I hope our man regains his lofty perch soon. He on the talk at all?

He's not on here james, hopefully if he has no memory of it, he'll have nothing sitting in the back of his mind to put him off climbing in the future........although i dont see how blame can be layed at anyones feet at the college, i'd like to think that whoever is responsible for health and safety would be on the ball!!!

Atree he fell about 20ft out a tree and landed on his arse/back!!!!!

  10. No more than £30 quid for me on trainers, and i'll wear them till they drop off me feet, dont understand people who pay stupid prices for them and have about 10 pairs!!!!!

But i have a pair of meindl burma pros for shooting and the like, muckboots for the same(which are the best welllies i've ever had) and stihl boots for work, but i dont like them as they are too heavy and kill your feet after wearing them all day!!!!

My lass is always on at me to buy new clothes, but the same thing applies there too, i dont want brand names and stupid prices, i'd rather spend the money on something i'm gonna get some use out of, i dont think a Gap/Bench or whatever t-shirt is any warmer than a £5 jobby is it????
