none at all. I'm hoping things will get better after I've done my climbing tickets. most places i've applied for work have said to get back to them when I've passed my driving test. How's things with you man, i hear you've been climbing with cerne but you had any work?

the guys at otley college told me about it. Said it would help with course work, a way to find info you wouldn't nessacarily find in text books. was a big help.

You can download the assessment schedules from the NPTC website. You want units 30 and 31 to start with. These are pre-requisites to all other tickets.http://www.nptc.org.uk/assessment-schedules/

The minimum age to take the assessments is 16 as far as i'm aware with no upper age limit. Hope that helps Andy.

yeah i've tried e-mailing them a couple of times but i've yet to hear from them. Would be ideal for me as i'm moving to gt blakenham this month. Think i'll just go there and talk to them face to face.Thanks for the suggestion Andy.

I am looking for fulltime, permenant work as a trainee climber/groundsman in the area around Ipswich and stowmarket. I have NPTC units CS30 & 31 and I'm signed up to do 38 & 39 in the near future. Need industry experience as I've just finished a national award in arboriculture. I am 30 years old so want to get into it asap.

Definately spikes. Not having an anchor point for reassurance made my legs shake the first few times. Found my self stamping them in as hard as i could thinking that this would stop me falling only to find that if i missed my spot my spike would slip harder. By the time I was halfway up a pole I was too fatigued to carry on. Now I gently place the spikes where I want them and find this both quicker and less work. Still got a way to go before I'm up to scratch though.

Was wondering if any of you guys have any advice for an arb student looking for work. Have found various websites such as Arbjobs but there never seems to be anything in my area. I'm 30 and finish college soon, let out into the big arb world. Should I be phoning companies on the off chance or is there a more productive approach. Any advice will be appreiciated.
