  1. Hello, I've been Chris P's main climber for the last two years and work has started to get a bit thin. If anyone has the odd day here and there, and they are willing to employ possibly the shortest tree surgeon in the world I'd be very greatful if you could bare me in mind. I've attached a copy of my C.V at the bottom of this. Many thanks.
  2. Hello, Yeah, good old Jason Bonser, Kev, spoke to Pete the other month and he said Jason had dissappeared. Erm, the other thing from my conversation with Pete is that Ginger Rob Needham has set up on his own and Pete had groundied for him on occassion, don't kno wif its worth giving him a call, you got his number Kev?
  3. Oh, just noticed you're out Horncastle way, Lee Drinkell may be able to help. Think I've still got his number, I'll have a look. Its all power line clearance I'm afraid, but its all experience eh?
  4. Hello, Try contacting Cliff Tree Services, based just south of lincoln, just past RAF Waddington, name of the village escapes me at the minute, PM me and I'll rake out his phone number. Did me no end of favours whilst I was at Riseholme. Are Foxy and Mr. Rowbottom still there? Smiley Dave W.? Mr. Dennis? Would you say hello to them all from me if you wouldn't mind.
  5. Yep I consider my self lucky, could've been so much worse. Well I'm still walking and talking for one (mind you others may say otherwise) and yes, my wife thinks I'm better looking for it! That's one thing I bet most of us don't consider. The phone call from A&E trying to calm her down and convince her everything was alright was the worst aspect of the whole incident. Thinking back to that even now hurts more than the gaping hole in my cheek ever did. Sleep tight everybody.
  6. I tried to clean my teeth with my 020. Gruelling week, had a late finish on friday, didn't get back to the yard 'til 10, back in on saturday, had something like 13 lime trees to reduce that day. To make it worse some roofers had just finished an extension under the trees we were working on and at about 2 in the afternoon they started whinging about the bits of frith that were hitting the roof. Well, in my tired, frustrated state I got myself in a stupid position cut straight through from the back on a branch which bit I believe and jammed itself in my cheek. Luckily I missed every nerve, my eye and any major arteries. I had 30 something stitches on the outside and the consultant lost count at eighty on the inside. Lessons learnt? Don't work for a company thats push push push, don't push yourself when you know you've done too much, and if in doubt use your silky! The pics are taken the day after, 1 week & 2 weeks. That was 3 1/2 years ago, just got a fine line across my face now. The funny thing was that I did it the day before halloween. Oh how I scared the trick or treaters!
  7. I think it makes a difference when felling stems with stubs to felling whole trees. With a whole tree as the branches break they absorb the majority of the impact, whereas any stubs left on a stem just get slammed into the ground.
  8. Hello, Crispy's got no internet at the moment, so I'm afraid you'll have to make do with me. They eventually kill the tree, effectively girdling it with all of the holes. You'd be suprised how far in those grubs get. I took some photo's of the root plate of the one that fell over, there really was nothing holding it up, as well of a picture of one of the grubs munching its way through the centre of one of the exposed roots, I'm sure when he gets back online he'll sort them out. Hope this helps, Damion.
  9. Mucho mucho barbed wire. Oh, and I don't think Chris can bend that low anymore!!
  10. Kev, for what you've got round your way its gotta be a hardtail. A last year's spesh or kona would be a good bet. Other thing you could try is the hire shop at sherwood pines, find out when they sell off their fleet, you'd be able to get a steal there. I've got both a hardtail (on one inbred, SS, carbon forks) and a full suss (Coiler deluxe) and the inbred is getting the most use at the moment.
  11. What about this one. Technical whizz me! [ame] [/ame]
  12. Well that didn't work did it. Let me try again
  13. Hopefully there's a youtube video of the 'winch' gently tugging at one of the butts below. It was bliss not having to cross cut all that quality timber!
