Presumably all of the harnesses with a single bridge will be deemed inadequate for tree work now too?
good job there's some designed with two or three independent bridges then?

So am I getting this right they are going to ban knots ? Would this count for friction hitches too ?yep. are you competent to tie that knot? has that knot been tested to work with the rope and hitch cord combination you are using? AND do the rope manufactures approve that whole set-up?
yes there is the turtle burger CE climb, but 'they' have moved the goal posts and its impossible for any one else to do!

Yeh i was being sarcastic with my comment. Their system makes a lot of sense to me but will never happen in our industry. If a level 3 had to go up a tree to inspect a L1's knots and anchor then he might as well do the job himself.
so the biggest problem is lack of training and inexperience?

Will also make climbing competitions even more boring to watch, or will they be exempt?

just the thin edge of the wedge, knots will be band as each component in every system will have to be compatible ☕

we use wooden potato boxes, can be picked up for £15, and have a covered porch by the back /side door where they fit. i trim the box's down a little so you can reach the back. change the box's in ten minutes if the tractors battery's not flat

bind the cord with electrical tape before you cut it, cut in the middle of the tape and dont forget to mark it up for your LOLER records ( use white tape and number with a sharpie)

For a handicap, the better the climber, the more ropes they have to use.
could be, but the idea been if its a sport its not work so you could use no ropes and free solo it ??

The issue of friction with 2DDRT systems in a dense canopy is not to be underestimated. You could easily find yourself stuck if you had an injury. Plus if the rescuer has to bag in and tie in twice the time it takes to reach a casualty could be excessive. Which then raises the spectre of pre-installing TWO rescue lines. So now there are 4 lines in the tree plus a rigging line if required!
if you had a preinstalled access line and backup, it would be 6 lines, all requiring different anchor points, plus lanyards and H2H connectors, i think that there is upto 14 connection points/carabiners,

I'd be interested to know what the rest of europe do about this if its an eu directive that has pushed toward 2 rope?
very very little. italy is the only place that you need a second line, but only when accessing the tree ssrt

what Timon said, plus no one will mind if you have a little wobble or you voice cracks, eyes leak or anything like that, I did when i gave my best mates eulogy, i shows emotion and compassion.
don't over think it

How do i stand, submitted a CA on the planning Portal and received a conformation that it had been sent to the council, checked the council website as they are now out of time, before we start work(light pruning) and its not there? crack on or ring the tree officer?

But both bridges are attached to the same web on a harness, thus introducing a single redundancy.
We need two harnesses.
but there only attached to one body, so single redundancy again

And of course to follow it to its logical conclusion you need two bridges and two independant tie in points.

Isn’t that what we do anyway? Prize money being the price of the job?
if its prize money for a sport, we wouldn't have to use two anchor point etc as we are not at work ?
-
just thinking aloud, a new sport of tree climbing for prize money.(nothing to do with work) there will be several divisions/leagues, removals pruning etc, with a handy cap system dependant on number in the team and size of chipper etc, this sport involves climbing trees however you want, to do the tasks depending in which league you are playing, to collect as much prize money in the shortest time. league positions will be worked out after handy cap taken (may be like golf as its a sport)
i think it will take some time to work out but from tomorrow, full on training for this exciting new sport

if anchor point failure is the problem throwing another rope at it wont help. most trees only have(when removing) one TIP and the second one, below your feet?,miles over the other side? and when your blocking down a stem?

Two-rope Working - an update

Yes but not as a mandatory requirement. Fail to Safe, built in redundancy and the wider choice of options. I don't use two lines alot but the two bridges add a lot of stability when branch walking, as the two rings are usually apart etc. It's also nice to have that option as the work plan often changes once you are up in the tree.
