  1. One of the cut leafed Alders... Probably Alnus glutinosa 'Imperialis'??
  2. Well I thought Pholiota at first but the caps aren't really scaly enough?!? - what you see is mostly debris. It had been raining as well. Could be though... Still 8 species on the same tree- cool eh??
  3. Went back today while passing. Make that eight different species! Flammulina velutipes
  4. I'll check at work tomorrow morning (thats if no-onedoes so in the meantime!)
  5. Works now at home at 1280 x 800 on IE 7...
  6. If it helps - i just tried it in 1024 x 768 with the same issue. IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 (hmmm catchy)
  7. Also, noticed in that first shot that the first and last buttons along the top are slighlty lower than the others?!?!
  8. Looking good Steve - apart from the big gap!!! I'm running XP at 1280x1024. I've attached some screen shots form the top of the red space and the bottom.
  9. Hands up who loves a quality cover version... [ame] [/ame]
  10. Zelkova spp. probably Zelkova serrata Nice tree - hard as nails too
  11. Ha ha - Like Trigger's trusty broom in Only Fools.. "I've had this broom for twenty years... I've replaced the stick 10 times and the head 7 times..."
  12. That's one big didgeridoo... Nice one Reg - Great shots as always!!!
  13. Halfway into the lead in period for my Hunter Herald 8 integral... 12 week wait from order to delivery!!! Apparently, demand has seriously outstripped supply for all manufacturers - I had to shop around to get the 12 week wait rather than the 16!!
  14. Business management is not a strong point of mine (as those who know me will attest!! ) but does that statement not mean that if they don't pay you within 14 days after completion they can leave it up to a year before you charge them interest???
  15. Ha - I completely forgot the ID!! I'm can't confidently narrow these down to either G. applanatum or G. adspersum. Just to confuse matters; Schwarze uses the synonym Ganoderma lipsiense rather than G. applanatum... Maybe he knows something we don't?!? Another thing to go on the list!!!!
  16. Its a major work IMO - collects, collates and critiques a huge range of information. Detailing everything from a synthesis of tree hazard assessment techniques, a fairly devastating analysis of the 0.3 t/R rule, interpretation and analysis of PICUS tomograms, a progressive ID for fruting bodies, the different strategies employed by the genus Ganoderma, studies on the biocontrol of decay by using spore inpregnated wound paint, and lastly - how decay fungi can be used to make violins sound better and coffins break down quicker!!!! I've only read a few chapters (having recieved it on Friday) and the amount of notes i've made on things to chase up is disturbing... As for the price; £105. That put a small dent in the council book budget for sure.
  17. Working my way up:- Oudemansiella mucida Bjerkandera adusta Phellinus tuberculosus (methinks!) Any challengers????
  18. I'm going for the Arbtalk record - Highest number of fruiting bodies found on a single tree... Knackered Horse Chestnut on a nearby estate, big cavity on one side where a co-dom pulled out many moons ago, plus wet compacted ground all around. 7 species of fungi chomping away at the (still live)carcass. Starting at the base:- Ganoderma applanatum Xylaria polymorpha Pleurotus ostreatus Armillaria mellea
  19. Saw this while surveying nearby (You could see it from halfway across the estate!!) The size and annual growth on some of the brackets is phenomenal - only exceeded by the adaptive growth of the buttresses and around the fence. The reinforced rootplate is deceptively large - which ties in nicely with what I've been reading in Schwarze's new book. Anyway enough rambling
