Appreciate the advice re those with knowledge/experience on the block paving. Those of you who could get it down in a day, I am looking for staff and happy to take you on as you are better than me at my best or any of the probably 50-60 climbers I have hired over the last 20 years.... Pictures can be deceptive but it ain't coming down safety in a day.. Even with a crane, tractor trailer, Avant and 12 inch chipper it would be a challenge to get it out in the day..

It can be done but it will cost. Contact a specialist got a quote and guarantee of no damage then everyone covered.
May have to tell clients to sit down with stiff drink first.
40t crane why one so big, going to lift it in one.
It is bigger then it looks in the photo.

Has anyone experience using ground protection to protect block paving.
We have a big lime tree to remove that is surrounded by brand new block paving that we do NOT want to damage.
Would like to bring a 40 ton crane, tractor, trailer and 7.5ton trucks on site.
I little bit ironic as the installation on the paving is what has knackered the tree.
Added a pic to show how they "protected" this TPO tree during the construction. A demonstration as to what a waste of time your average AMS is as there was one done for the site but pretty sure the contractor never saw it.

We have a sceech alarm, so loud it is unpleasant to be in the container.. But it is not uncommon for it to go off. Spiders etc.. You friendly neighbours might not be so friendly once woken by your security measures..

We have 2 Isuzu's but I think they are the 3l variant. Best 3.5 tonner we have used. Our old one looks like a bag of bolts and we keep meaning to retire it but it just keeps on going...

The pros are really good at getting into containers. They can just cut a hole in the side. You need to line them with ply as then they need to have different tools.

Can we try and keep the discussion friendly.. We might disagree but the Facebook style abuse will kill any useful discussion.. It is very easy to respond with a pithy oneliner/insult. Difficult not to respond when someone is abusive, but please let's be constructive..
There are different views and people have had widely different experience with ADB as it moves into areas.
I have seen trees go from looking not quite right but ok to climb, to there is no way I am putting a climber in that in 2 years.
The rapid decline of ash and the state of dead trees is something we need to be aware of. There is a reason that stupid groundsman armour was invented.

So you recommend felling healthy Ash "just in case". I despair, our Ash really are doomed.
No. I tell them the advice is not currently to pre-emptively fell ash trees, but if they have large ash trees with no mewp access, they should think carefully before spending lots on other works such as reducing them and that if the ash trees do show signs of ADB then they should act sooner rather then later.

It's only just coming into our area but if what I have seen in other areas comes to pass lots of landowners are going to be in BIG trouble.. One of my regular customer has 12 horrible dead trees in his garden and claims he can't afford for us to even remove 1.. We do mostly domestic work and lots of big ash in small gardens. My advice to clients with big ash trees in small gardens with no access is to think very hard if they are going to retain them because if they die with ADB they may not be safe to climb and so be seriously hard to remove.

I found that link by looking at Google images, did the same on a 357XP that an Irish customer was going to purchase off Gumtree......found that sold on ebay 100s of miles away!
I hadn't thought of Google images search, in this case, useful tool. I used it a few weeks back on a photo on a LinkedIn profile and turned out to have been a stock photo of "Handsom happy business man.."

Is every machine on there a con now...? Do people actually lose money through these scams, or has someone bagged a bargain...

Best ebay them for parts, O84s are still out there and lots of parts are obsolete. Shame it couldn't be sorted...some are like that unfortunately.
I should.. Every few years I take photos, but never actually succeed in actually selling..

The bigger the house, the tighter the wallet.....was that Issac Newton
I don't mind being told" it's too expensive, I can get it done cheaper," but find it really annoying to be told by someone sitting in a brand new Jag they can't afford it..

Client this week. Needed a tree removing asap, as they are installing a phone line under it. They sent me a photo. Big dead ash. I told him call out rates which he said he couldn't afford.
I wouldn't mind, but the client lives in a very large house with about 10 acres, owns at least one rental property, has a well paid job as an eye consultant and when I went to look today pulled up in his electric Jag..
It's also quite annoying as I visited this time last year and told him his ash were in a poor state, and recommend a survey. He now has 12 dead or dying mature ash trees, that are no longer climbable.. but he wants us just to remove the dead branches on one and leave the stem (that will become dangerous) and leave him to saw up wood to save some money..

And thank you @benedmonds for prompting me into the actions I will take in the coming days
Some of us have been part of this community for a long time... It is a great resource, 9 times out of 10 when I Google anything to do with work Arbtalk comes up in the search somewhere. Sometimes threads I participated in years ago... It may be due to cookies on my pc but useful nevertheless.
It has changed over the years and some users who started out as utter plonkers turned into useful contributors..

If I’m understanding that right I could purchase a new truck in 2021 and it would be 130% tax deductible?
We will have to see if it counts as "qualifying plant and machinery."
Super-deduction - GOV.UK

A new 130% first-year capital allowance for qualifying plant and machinery assets; and a 50% first-year allowance for qualifying special rate assets. -

If the engine can be de-tuned then great.
This engine was a genuine 26hp though.
After speaking with several tw dealers, the detuning is not as simple as some suggest. As Pete from greenmech mentioned there is a bigger pulley, different software and anti tamperware seals that if broken will void warrantee. One suggested it would cost £1,500 in parts..

I have considered similar and came to the conclusion that quality would drop, its also difficult to administer as our teams don't remain the same all the time. In a similar vain I have thought about bonuses for not breaking things but came to the conclusion stuff less likely to get reported. Often unintended consequences..
I think the best way would be to offer employees a profit share or something similar, but I have yet to come across a simple method that could be easily applied. Doing it annually is not likely to incentivise staff, monthly would be better but then there would be a lot of work to figure out the numbers and then how do you differentiate between the grafters and the slackers.
