  1. You will require planning permission for any new fence, gate or wall over 2m in height. This will normally include the addition of trellis panels on top of an existing fence if this takes the overall height to above 2m. This may technically also include the addition of wires and brackets to carry a climbing shrub, although this can sometimes be open to interpretation

You do not require planning permission to grow a thorny plant along the top of your 2m fence (providing there are no support structures over 2 metres) unless there are covenants or restrictions. Check with your local planning authority

If the new fence or wall borders or adjoins a public highway used for vehicles you may need planning permission if it is higher than 1 metre

If you live in an area, which has open planned front gardens there is likely to be a covenant restricting the erection of any fence or hedge to the front of the dwelling and you must therefore refer to the local planning authority before you carry out any work

If you live in a listed building or your property borders a listed building then you may need planning permission before you carry out any work on your boundary fence or wall

You do not normally need planning permission to plant a hedge, but you should check with the local planning authority first as you will have responsibilities to maintain the hedge so that it does not cause a nuisance to others.

Before you carry out any work on your boundaries do check with the local planning authority first to see if there are any restrictions or if you need planning permission.

  2. Theres no way that works, i bet you have never checked the batteries OR you have stole them for the remote control. I've never even took that gps thing out the box i thought it was a star trek ray gun thing ( that would be awesome) .

Batteries ?? it's run off nuclear fusion isn't it, You'll know where Stevie is anyway there can't be many cafes about.

  3. Don't know how you lot do it.

Normally I'm a PAYE team leader. The managers off this week, so I'm managing the schedule for that time and also doing quotes.

Pair that with being the currently only productive climber and I'm starting to wear thin.

    Is tomorrow Friday?

Still, I've taken the first critical step to management. I'm already a borderline alcoholic.

No it's groundhog day so it's Monday for the near future.

  4. If you need to watch a video like that to remind yourself not to be complacent or not to work for a company that has less than safe working practices you must have a problem with short term memory loss, if that's the case, you have my sympathies.

What?? , who are you ??, oh I forgot the person who knows everything.

So what's wrong with refreshing your memory with what one has learnt.

So what do you build ?, models, paper aeroplanes.

  5. I might not put this across as clear as I want to but here goes.....Surely it's a reminder to everyone not to be complacent , not to cut corners. Therefore re educating people's ways of thinking, people are learning new or even old reminding themselves of things everyday.

I haven't felled a tree like that in a while but it made me think and remind myself /re educating myself in what I would of done in that situation.

It also reminded me what I have learnt, not to work for people who obviously under staff the job, not have a care in public safety, I could go on.

May I ask a question mull , what do you do work wise. ?

  6. No interest in baying for blood from me either, as I've pointed out already, if you are already in the industry and you have to look at this vid to learn something[emoji79], what the hell are you doing at the moment if this video teaches you something?

To learn something from this video, you'd have to be as thick as two short planks before you watched it surely?

    Some pics of the walnut.

The Jesus creepers are not included in the conversation 👍

    Liking the ppe [emoji2]

  8. To me every thing looks wrong, from the position of the hinge (see as he's walking to the tree), from where the truck is with the pull line where I guess they where aiming for.

Personally I would of felled along the tree line had two ropes up one to act as an anchor .

Pull line looks nice and high why not not the top out first ?

What I do find worse personally is the lack of public control , I would of asked for cars to be removed and public well away. Also looks like they were understaffed for the job.

Only my opinion tho, but we'll never know it's all a guess.

  9. Mrs Egg is a right busy body, sorry I meant on the Parish Council.

They are looking for a sign for the village hall. It needs to be about 300mm by 750mm, they have been quoted it in "Iroko" about 1" thick, but up for other suggestions.

It will have to be a wood that will last with little or no care, and age nicely, letters - there will be 24.

Set on one post or a sign on two posts, again open to suggestions, can examples be posted of work?

Just seen this send me any details , I can then email you pictures of other signs I've done.

    Some for example..375fc245217734737d887486246d0fe6.jpg9258a5eebd40e6d93bf6adccf24da3a1.jpg758b840097531d7c3535eada3af0496f.jpg

  10. It's hard being a single dad but soon my kids will be grown up and gone off doing their thing, so spending quality time with them now means a lot to me. It's week on week off with my youngest through the holidays and the eldest lives with me, but since moving I'm seeing my youngest more and more. I just work me arse off when I can to have the time off, I work the odd days during the holidays and work at night in the workshop. It might sound odd but it works :001_smile:

  11. so... I've just finished quoting this job up... total including labour comes to £8404.03!?

bloody hell this stuff is expensive! does this sound about right? size is 9m x 6m deck 54m2

crazy... if someone came to me with a quote like that it would put me in hospital! and i gave them trade on the materials too.

If you have me that price I would burst out laughing, how long do you think it will take?? What's the materials and labour cost then.
