  1. poor feckin groundie havin to stare at yer fat arse AND pull you up the tree! glad i just work em to death clearing the ground :)

Haha, S'ok he dont weigh that much, and I dont stare at his arse :scared:

  2. what do you do with your old saws when you replace them? Sell them on? Where? Who too? Ebay is a good place to sell stuff. If someone wants to buy a cheap saw, they can go to a local DIY store and purchase one, no advice, no safety wear, sold to them by an acne infested youth who couldnt care less, cos he's watching that bird walk past his till. At least on Ebay you can ADVISE people when you are selling an item, and its up to them if they choose to heed your advice.

  3. I can't help but feel some of the fells i've done were carried out because they could put more money on it, which I feel is a short sighted approach, as once a tree is gone there is no more money to be made from it.

I know where you're coming from Marc, but with trees, beeches esp, how much money do you think people can spend on something thats in its later years? Surely this money is better spent in planting new trees to eventually take over from those that will soon be lost, its the circle of life really. Many of the beautiful old trees about are in areas that the public have access, and to try and hang onto them may increase the risk of future failure. The continuous monitoring of these stretches already tight budgets, and I cant help but think this money could be better spent.

  4. Surprised anyone allows someone to turn up for work suffering hangovers etc, surely they're best sent home for their own safety. And dont forget if they are driving your vehicles, they are probably still over the limit!!

  5. Ouch, I just knew this was going to be a dodgy topic. Having never worked with female climbers, I dont have an opinion on their aerial abilities, and no doubt they would be better than me off the ground anyway. I feel that the benefits of being (generally) more consciencious about the way they work may out-weigh the lack of physical strength. Why should peeing be any more of problem for girls than blokes???? We all gotta go!!

  6. Good point toddster, however thats the original question. Personally I own a Jensen, and am happy with it. BUT given the money, and enough work so it paid for itself, I would choose the Premier/Schliesing over anything else. This may be down to the fact that i have used them for the last 10 or 11 years, on and off, and my loathing in the past when I've used TW's. I dont doubt many of the others are fine chippers. Perhaps we could have a thread for each manufacturer at some point, to discuss the merits of each one, so we have an un-biased view across the market.

  7. I know for a fact that the AAAC status is held by the manager of any organization. Be that the company owner of a small business, or the area office manager of a large outfit like glendale's or fountains.

So is it just the manager who is Approved? So what if the manager changes companies?

  8. Slightly off on a tangent, but on the way home tonight, we were trying to think, outside of Arboriculture, what the general public think of instantly if asked "what does the AA mean?" We came to the opinion most would either think of the Automobile Association, or Alcoholics Anonymous. Neither of these would be suitable, approved or otherwise, to care for their trees. Is THIS the most confusing thing for the identity of our trade???
