  1. I am shocked, yes shocked by your attitude.

You can't inflict Australians upon them.

    That's inhumane.

Of course you can, given the option of prison, compulsory sterilization, or life in Oz, I'm sure they pick the latter. Of course, they should work their passage there too. Dont want it to seem like a pleasure cruise!!

  2. There's no requirement to submit a map or to use an application form. An hand written note is enough, Just make sure they can ID the tree, easy if it's the only one in the garden. Remember anyone can make an application, so the process has to be simple. Our council send a plan if we ask. Some will ask you to use OS maps and charge a fee. You do not have to use them.

Some council tree officers make stupid requests. Site plans, OS maps, application forms and reports all in multi copies. It saves them work. Read the guide it actually states that councils " should not ask for multi copies "

Hey TC, you are right, but anything that helps grease the wheels of the system makes life so much easier. I try and provide as much info as possible, to save confusion on large applications. With the mapping system used by my local council, its so easy to clarify exactly what I'm talking about, that I think it saves me a lot of time.

  3. I used to live on an estate "ran" by the National Front brigade. They alway hung around in the local pub, and round the phone box nr the shops in a gang of 20 or so. They didnt like us greasy biker types too much, so it was a scrap everytime we went out. I remember 3 of us got jumped in an alley, by about 7 or 8, and we had to fight our way out. After that, we didnt get any more hassle, in fact they would let us in "their" pub without any hassle. Still sad little buggers tho. Spose these days, their offspring are the chav-types, or hoodies :BoomSmilie_anim:

  4. When single mothers go to jail for not paying for a TV license QUOTE]

Well, tv is a luxury, wtf should us good honest fine upstanding citizens pay thru the nose, and some single bird with umpteen kids by different dads get away with it for nowt. Lock em up, build more prisons, then find some more.

  5. Cheers Matt, when I worked at Elveden they were trialling the planting of this hedging, now a few years later, I'm pushing it to my clients. albeit thru PracBrowns. Should be a nice little earner, IF it goes ahead!!

Looks like its going to happen, plan to be there and hopefully photograph the installation. Shall post as and when!

  6. Thats not quiet how it works no one works alone. Ok i cut the tree in under an hour and had cleared what was left with my groundie if were being technical sonny. A job like that would take 2.5 hours maybe if i had no arms lol.

Ok, not trying to be picky here telhol, but one and a quarter hours, x2 men is 2.5hrs. No-one is saying you couldnt do the tree in the time you stated, and a good groundie should be able to keep the ground clean so by the time you come out of the tree you can pack the gear away and drive onto next job, which hopefully can be planned to be nearby. True it may be winter, times are tighter, but your costs are increasing daily (fuel price hikes for example). You have to run your business the way that suits your needs, but why sell yourself short? Its not a case of ripping people off, more a case of not ripping yourself off.
