  • Important changes to the tip site directory

In our recent upgrade the single biggest change to be made to the site has been to the tip site directory. The key changes made include a improved user interface, a map key with custom markers which tell you at a glance what category the tip site falls under....and probably the biggest change is the introduction of a yearly fee for its use. The fee serves multiple purposes. Firstly, the directory has far outgrown my ability to finance it. The new fee will help cover the time taken to run the 3 websites that work together to form this one important feature. It will also help ensure only the right type of people are using the directory and therefore cut down further on admin time. As always, feedback on the changes are more than welcome.

    Loyalty Reward

The good news is, if you are a member with a post count of 1000 or higher your loyalty has been rewarded with a free upgrade to incorporate free use of the directory into your account privileges.

30 + vat. I have set it at a rate that I think is fair. Basically if you use it once and it saves you an hours round trip to the yard its paid for itself.

Also going to be pushing the formation of tip sites that pay so there will be more incentive from the sites over time.

£30 + VAT seems perfectly reasonable 'IF' you are in an area where you're likely to get a wood supply, now or in the very near future. In fact its an outright bargain 👍

Slightly less so if, like me, you happen to be in an area with no current activity, few members, and apparently no tipping Arbs. In which case it would currently be a £30 + VAT waiting fee.

    * This is purely down to my location (Highlands) and not the fault of the site or its members. Just seems to be little or nothing going on up here 😞

The charge is for treensurgeons to use the directory. It is free to add a listing still

It’s a fee paid by the arbs looking to tip - my understanding is that listing your site is still free.
