running a saw to rich (too much oil) if only a little bit shouldn't overheat, might get smokey though.

 

running lean (not enough oil) will overheat and seize your engine or kill your saw

 

as Geoff said, 50:1 mix

When talking lean and rich, you are normally talking about the carb settings and the fuel to air mix,lean on the High speed H screw will overheat the engine and rich will make it smoke.

 

Oil mix is as Wolfie says!
