Tractor tyre size change

I'm trying to decide which option to go with as I'm replacing the rims and tyres on a tractor I've just bought. Currently it's on Turfs and I'm swapping to AG.

On the rears it was originally (manufacturer) shod in 13.6 x 28 but I want to go wider and either keep the same rc or go slightly larger (obviously matching the fronts to suit inter/axle ratio). Current options are:

a) 480/60R 28

b) 480/70R 24, or

c) just going with original spec 13.6x28.

The 480/60 28's are pricy but will have a shorter side wall and therefore better squirming stability on side slopes in the forest. Whilst the 480/70 24's are cheaper but will obviously have taller side walls . . . . Not quite sure how much the side wall height will effect things when it gets spicy:confused1:

Any thoughts?:thumbup1:

(i)Do you know yer inter-axle ratio?

(ii) Why are you retaining the origional fronts?

(iii)i.e. perhaps consider new matching wider front and rear on the origonal rim diminsions, while keeping the inter-axle ratio correct.

There a few good sources giving effective rolling radius/circumfrences out there, primarily Trellborg/Micheln.

From the possessor of a way over-shod DB 1490, Fer Da Moss, running at about 12 to 15psi

PS

With the extra rim costs I cannot see the justification in "saving" 10% sidewall height, which I imagine should be "real-world" insignificent

i+ii yes have sussed the ratio and no I'm not keeping the current fronts so will wait on what rears I decide on and then get bigger fronts to suit.

iii Current rims are turf and tiny so not an option for ag's and ground clearance is poor - so as I'm starting afresh I'm keen to get it right.

16.9-24 are also an option and should sit higher than 13.6 28s . . .
