my mate paul is looking at buying a used Schleising 440 zx pto driven chipper in average condition made in 1999. the company who have it at the moment have told him to make an offer if he wants it. just wondered if anyone had a ball park figure so he's not paying well over the odds. i'll try and get pics tomorrow if i get a chance. and is there anything to look out for on this chipper faults wise? cheers jp

We currently have a 2000 - 400ZX (same capacity but feed rollers not as wide as 440) being fully refurbished.(It has spent its life behind a 175hp Mog. It has autofeed but has never been switched on. Total items replaced apart from blades, anvils etc. 1 x Rear flywheel bearing due to lack of greasing). This machine will be about £4500 + vat, inc auto feed and HSE safety spec. The value of the 440 would depend on if the machine was up to current HSE compliancy (not required in 99 when built) and whether it has autofeed. If it has neither I would value at about £2.5k and upto £3.5k if all there and working.
