Nice photos, David. I'd agree it's likely Perenni. Interesting that the lower portion aborted but the upper has persisted. Given it's out of reach of vandals, that could develop into a nice chunky tier of brackets!

Pretty confident that it stands up as P. fraxinea, though someone's asked for a sample to confirm under scopes.

Interesting to watch both the slow movement up the trunk of the fruiting of these Pholiota aurivella but also the change in the month they developed.

 

These from a branch stub toward the top of the trunk today (April)

Is it the same location you and Tony recorded a few years back, if so, are you aware of how often it fruits?

Hi David thank you , yes same tree this year haven’t seen it fruiting for 3 years at height but it did fruit in the hollow in trunk a couple years ago , I would say in last ten years of watching it is ushally consistent for some kind of fruiting each year , thought I would make the most of it this year
