Husqvarna 50

Hi all.

Picked up a really nice almost mint Husky 50 over the bank holiday weekend. The old boy had it from new and said it had only done 20-30 hours but had been put away and now wouldn't start.

His local dealer told him it was beyond economic repair and sold him a new one. Bit naughty really IMO.

Anyway I pulled it apart this morning (as the dealer obviously hadn't ).

New plug and Ultrasonic clean of the carb and fresh fuel, it was up and running :-)

I would like to source a new or used handle insert and being really picky a replacement oil filler cap but not sure what year the saw is as it seems to have gone through several updates through its production run.

My question is how do you decipher the model numbers to find the year etc. Mine reads 7130674.

Not sure on the serial number, SawTroll is your man for that but there were three models of the 50, Rancher and Special made from about 1983 to 1990 so unless someone has new old stock it will probably be used. Just been reading up and the first number is the last digit of the year so it would probably be 1987 week 13.

I have a spare cap (had a 50 for several years) but I'm pretty sure it's a fuel one .The outside diameter of the top is 36.5mm and I've a feeling the oil one is slightly smaller. Your welcome to it if it's of any use.

1987 Husq 50....Oil cap (complete with O ring ) pt no 501 76 56-02 and handle side insert 503 40 47 -01
