All it takes is one gang to impact a large area, say a 25 mile radius, give of take, and these people tend to be in a position to evade the law often, and accept that they will get caught from time to time.

 

I believe the distribution or exporting of these stolen items is the best target to hit, kill demand and the supply chain will falter.

 

Without doubt the pro thieves are just a link in the system, steeling then selling on to a hub which exports the kit.

 

This is where the money is made, and the nickings by the police, when they get off there arses, stops at the gangs who do the theft, and don't bring down the main issue, the outlets for the kit.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

wpc plod phoned this morning, seems the operator who took the initial report failed to understand the size of the saws/bars and once mrs plod realised we weren't talking B&Q specials she took it more serious. Now, it all depends how serious but when I explained 54" bar on the 880 made up a unit touching 7' in length you could almost hear the cogs turning!
