Around Xmas was pretty lean so joined Checkatrade, to see what happened & initially got some work thru them but things improved more once the truck & van were sign written. I reckon even if new customers don't get you thru CaT, some'll still have a look at reputation/references there.

 

 

What's your say on checkatrade?

We did this being new to this work so had no reputation at all & seemed a good way to get known. The outlay was about £800 which, they say, you can have refunded after a year if that cost isn't covered. Prob about 30-40% of our new work is thru them & if not, other new customers like to look at references. Like all things its open to abuse as we know one or two who hand out reference cards to mates who give them 10/10. If they can't earn a good rep, the customers will soon rumble them. When renewal time comes we'll see...but probably will. Theres plenty of others now but CaT seems the most known.

I know a local guy round my area is on it! But I think he gets a lot of work through it!! Is it about £800 a year?

Yeah that hurt but for us it was worth it.

It is very good out there, for stump grinding to. Busy all hours don't have time for anything else anymore took over my life.
