entec chipper refurb lighting wires

Removed the lighting board today, to discover three wires tapped into the lead. One black with an inline fuse, connected to the negative on the starter motor, a red also with an inline fuse connected to the positive on the starter motor, and a black going to a plastic box mounted on the underside of the chassis.

I can only assume it was an attempt to charge the chipper battery from the towing vehicle electrics?

It was fitted by the original owner back in 2000. You have to pay an annual subscription to trakker uk for it, and it has to be activated by them, so the police can pick up the signal. There are much better systems on the market now, which require no subscription and can be tracked by the owner.

the unit I removed was pretty corroded and the slave battery had leaked so I doubt it would have worked anyway
