We had the privilege of collaborating with Paul recently, getting to see the Arbotom first hand.

Paul's proficiency and technical knowledge is first rate & I would recommend anyone with a thirst for learning about decay detection and has access to the types of trees that he would like to work on, to get in touch.

Thanks very much David for your kind words. It was great to work with you and the team at Hampstead Heath.

Have a great Easter. All the best, Paul

Hi Paul,

We've always got trees you could test in Harlow.

Are you only wanting trees with signs of decay/disfunction?

Josh

Hi Josh,

Testing some trees in Harlow would be perfect. It would also be a good opportunity to catch up with you, Bob, Phil and Paul.

I'm looking to test any trees that are due for removal. If they have features such as cavities or other evidence of decay, then even better. Some of the key things I want to get out of the research are:

1/ the range of velocities for difference species;

2/ how bark inclusions and fluting affect the readings;

3/ how different types of decay are represented in the tomogram.

4/ to build up a data base of bark thickness for different species and stem diameters.

Please can you PM your phone number and I'll give you a call next week to discuss (if that's ok with you)?

Thanks again. Have a great Easter break.

Paul

  • 11 months later...

Am looking to buy the Arbotom and Arboradix root mapping device later this year. How are you finding the Arbotom in terms of reliability and robustness? I ran a Picus for 4-5 years and spent quit a lot getting it repaired and calibrated.

Cheers
