Dolmar PS420C Carb

Having taken the plunge and removed the cat from my PS420 exhaust I went to enrich the top end only to find I have what appears to be a fixed H screw carb.

Is it safe to run without damaging engine ?

I think these are just covered in a resin epoxy of some sort you should be able to dig it out, then adjust as needed.

Thanks but there doesn't appear to be any resin or other covering on the pin (I can get a probe down the side).

To adjust The H jet you will need to have somebody retune the saw who has the

special Double D tool

Just as a matter of interest the H jet on my carb needed the Pac Man pattern tool not the Double D. (luckily I bought the set).

Interesting....have just been doing the same and mine needed a double D.

If you don't mind me asking....The cat delete ...was it a case of cutting it out from the existing muffler or did it lift out and then you resembled the unit ?

The cat section looks as if it should lift right out of the front cover ( in the IPL the exhaust is shown in three sections) but I found it impossible (without going mad) to separate the cat section from the front, (it may be a very tight push fit) so I just put the exhaust in a workmate and used a drill to remove the cat material itself .
