46 grade hydraulic oil

I have been given some 46 grade hydraulic oil. Can I use it on my valmet / valtra tractor or is it too dense ?

You really want Valtra Tran really. 46 would happy sit in a aux tank for a crane but i doubt on its own it would have all the lubricating properties to deal with wet breaks and clutch.

Depends what grade is in it already and if it is just a straight mineral hydraulic oil and not some fancy semi synthetic oil.

The reason for going to 46 grade is usually because the system is getting hot and losing power, conversly if you are mostly working in cold weather and the machine doesn't get too hot then going to a heavier grade will just lose you a bit of power.

If you can't be sure where it came from make sure it is new and clean.
