Its unlikely that a tree surgeon will have large quantities at any one time rather that they will have an ongoing need to get rid of penny packets - if they are close enough it works.

 

If you want bulk delivery then contact the harvesting companies like Scottish Woodlands - could be worth talking to your local FC office as well since they will sell firewood in bulk but more likely to be softwoods.

Why?? If you have free wood you can well and truly screw up the local market only time it comes and bites you is in the ops case where you run out of free wood and have to join the buyers market.

Thats the logic which the op should have had at the start of his business. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it is never easy starting off cheap and then having to go back to your customers to substantially raise your prices.

in my experience the prices quoted weren't correct, even chipwood at roadside was £20 plus, substantially more last year but came back quite a bit this year due to strong £ against euro. Still above £20 though. Sawlogs were £30 plus at roadside, spruce logs even more

 

Try calling BSW see what you get offered prices are way back especially up north.

 

Should be worth more I agree. A lot of the sawlogs from a standing sale we had back in 2013 went abroad Via Perth dock that markets gone.

 

Most of the soft wood I buy has been roadside for months and is sawlog, pallet & SRW clear up mixed loads but excellent for the processor.
