From what I have found you can mix mineral oils of different viscosity to either thicken or thin them same as fork oil for bikes with no detrimental effects.

I would always adhere to manufacturers specs for machinery.

Not that i doubt your credibility and experience,im just giving the best advice i can as we dont even know what oils are being mixed at this stage.I always go by if in doubt DONT

Hi,

seems like you have a good one there

As for bar oil, just use a decent quality oil & you will be fine, after all it enters the bar and in a split second its gone & done what its supposed to do - lubricate your chain/bar rail etc.

As for fuel, you could consider running it on Aspen or Husky Power2, these are pre-mixed fuels and dont go off as some petrol does. They are more expensive, but better for your saw & better for you.

Thanks for all the replies again really appreciate it!!

The reason I asked about the different chain oils is because I wasn't sure if the oil already in the saw would be same as the oil we have at work. I will check when I'm back at work what brand and viscosity the oil is but The chain oil we use at work has been in our stihl saws since we have had them and they have had no problems.

As for the fuel mix we have some stihl branded 2-stroke oil at work and the petrol comes from the pumps so should be fresh enough.
