I want to sign up to do the RFS cert in Arboriculture theory via a distance learning college.

SAC isn't running this year as far as I can tell. I have found these two providers online, can anyone recommend or let me know if I should avoid?

Any info would be useful....:001_smile:

Hi DBG, and welcome to the forum!

I don’t have any particular information on where to take the course I’m afraid but I can offer encouragement to go down the RFS route. I did mine years ago at Newton Rigg (block release, four weeks per year). It’s an excellent course and can highly recommend it. I’m still amazed its only a level 2 but that’s a different story.

Go for it! :thumbup1:

Thanks - I've studied with SAC before and really rate them. I spoke to SAC consultancy who were not sure where (either edinburgh/glasgow) or indeed if the course would run this year. I didn't receive the mail out so I guess there were not enough takers....

I don't want to have to wait until next Oct and there don't appear to be any other providers in Scotland so thought I'd go down the self study route.

HCC are winning at the moment but purely because I haven't heard of the other provider. If it's exactly the same study notes then I guess the cheaper of the two may win out... I don't suppose any of us are wealthy so sixty extra quid in my pocket is a bonus.

Thanks for the encouragement - I'm sure it will set me on the right(eous) path.

Thanks for all the info chaps. I think I'll go with HCC. :001_smile:

SAC would be my first choice but not sure it's running this year. I've asked for details and they have yet to turn up.

Really looking forward to it - we'll see how long it takes for the enthusiasm to wear off... sometime between lesson 1, page 1 and a short time later.
