hello too all ,

 

so here is my question (probably asked already)

 

I have a stihl ms 390 chainsaw how do I go about converting to a dime tip carving bar size etc

 

my saw currently has 72 link 3/8 chain 20inch bar (?)

 

I carved my first mushroom yeaterday and want to do more with out buying a new saw

any help appreciated thanks

i think you will kill a carving bar pretty fast with a 390. you could try a toonie bar, but really for a dime or quarter tip you need a under 40cc saw. ms170 is a cheap option, 1/4 pitch is the way forward for carving i reckon!

 

 

Yes Bills right.

You could put a quarter tip on it.

There's a recent thread where someone's asked a question regarding different size saws.

For detailing with a dime tip you need a smaller saw.
