You need a license to use mewps on highways

Surely having a mewp on the road is exactly the same as having a van and chipper on the road (in terms of size/space).

 

So is the issue the work being carried out, wether it be above or on the road?

 

Common sense should dictate that if you have signed up, coned up, hi-vised up and are working safely then you are not causing a obstruction. But then again have local councils got common sense!

The guy who came on our site did say that he had no issues at all with the traffic management we had set out

Ah ok cool, I was just trying to figure out if it's specific to the use of mewps or cranes (and scaffold/skips) or if there might be the potential for problems with generally working in or above the road.
