Milling qualification ?

The plumton course did not really cover much practical milling just cutting a couple of boards.

We did get David Darnell to come out for a day to take us through all the set up and opperations of the mill, when he worked with Woodmizer. This was very informative and we recieved a certificate as proof of training.

It may be worth contacting machine suppliers.

Ah, I agree - manufacturer factory training.

here we go with this " you must have a ticket" crap, if you are using a chainsaw mill, maintenance and crosscutting more than covers you, and if its a bandsaw mill, the manufacturer, or there representitive, familurisationcourse satisfies the H&S nazis, there is no need for more "ticket" collectors, theres going to be a generation of so called woodcutters out there who can tell you how to do the perfect job, but arent actually capable of even splitting a bit of kindling

I am no fan of all training routes, however in the Arb. world NPTC assessment is the industry standard top certification and is reasonably robust when it comes to demonstrating operative competance.

There have been many unfortunate occurances in the wood processing industry and for the quietest life possible, I intend do all I can to ensure the H&S box is ticked before someone under my instruction mills a single piece of timber. There will be those that may disagree of course.
