Hi,

Does anyone know what is going on at the base of this cypress tree? Its not something I've seen before and I was wondering what may have caused this formation? The rest of the tree appears to be of typical form and habit (approx. 15m high, and is in good physiological condition).

I've seen the exact same thing a few years back and I must admit didn't take my investigations any further. However it does resemble the growth forms one gets on a grafted tree so that maybe a possibility?

How bizarre, seems too extreme to be bottle-but, I would suggest, perhaps worth investigating the 'nurse-tree' principle, i.e. where a mature tree has fallen/collapsed and then a (previously) lateral branch has grown up as a tree.

Hmmmm :confused1::001_rolleyes::001_rolleyes:

Reet, back to those H&S regs...aaaaaaaaahhhhhh:001_rolleyes:

Cheers..

Paul
