taking the plunge into mechanical friction, thinking of going with the lockjack sport. looking for some advice on carbs, does anyone have an opinion on what the best setup is? they give you a wide range of options so not sure what to go with.

as always any advice appreciated

Hi i've always found an oval carabiner works well for attachment to the bridge of your harness / ring. As the lockjack sits in the center of the karabiner keeping it correctly aligned, also something like a "beal pinch" may be handy to prevent cross loading.

 

But most importantly make sure the wooden ball on the lockjack cannot fit inside the krab.

spiderjack looks like the best for fast climbing but is it complicated? it looks it

 

 

I struggle using it with my left hand , because of the thumb brake thing. When using the Spiderjack you open it fully and then control it using the thumb brake.
