Ear & Eye protection for Petzl Vertex Best

Hi folks, new here so hopefully this is the correct forum for this question.

I've bought a Petzl Vertex Best which I'm pretty happy with, I needed ear defenders and bought a set of MSA Sordins EXC and compatible visor but the Sordins don't actually clip into the helmet, they fit but raising the visor makes the ear defenders slip up out of the helmet slots.

I then bought a set of Peltor X1's which are locked into the helmet so well that I can't get them out, also had to buy a Peltor (Stihl Branded) compatible visor but it's quite short, has a plastic mesh and sits awfully far out from the helmet.

I'm not particularly happy with either set up, has anyone any suggestions on alternatives or a method to get the Sordins to actually clip in place like I imagine they should.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum .

I have a vertex vent and I opted for the husqvarna cans, they fit really snug but can be removed fairly easily for climbing without the need for ear defenders. They are tough and have good protection. I imagine the vertex best has the same type of slots.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi thanks for that, just looked at the Husqvarna ear defenders but they look like MSA Sordins and for some reason they don't clip into place properly on my helmet, it looks like the part that goes in the helmet slot is too short to allow the ear defenders to clip into place. When I flip up the visor the ear defenders rise up out of the helmet slots, I figured they should stay in place.

Not sure why this should be :confused1:

Thanks, I'll check out the Husky ones next time, I managed to get the Sordins to fit, just needed to trim about 1mm off the slot on the helmet where the retaining clip of the Sordins should catch, they stay clipped in just fine now.

I guess if I'd really forced them I could have got them pushed into the helmet slots the extra 1mm that they needed.

All sorted now anyway, thanks guys :thumbup1:
