longest bar on stihl ms441

looking into an alaskan mill, buying a larger chainsaw isnt feasable at the moment, just wondering whats the longest bar realistically possible to use on my current stihl ms441 chainsaw, currently using a 25" bar,

 

how long can I realistically go for milling?

I have the same saw with a 25"bar for normal felling, ringing up. This feels like the biggest bar I could use. Maybe you could go for a skip chain and then a bigger bar?

I'd say 25" was the very limit. I tried mine on a 25" for cross cutting and it was painfully slow, so it now runs a 20".

 

Consider that milling is a lot harder on a saw that cross cutting and I reckon 25" will be too much, unless you buy a skip chain. It'll still be slow mind.

I've got Oregon 28"bar and rip chain . Because you loose about 6" of bar with the frame that leaves you 22" to cut with and seems ok to cut with but am looking to go ms660 with bigger bar to cut some bigger timber we have
